"It’s a beautiful view from the Bell Tower, and it chimes on the half hour. It’s a nice hike up the hill to get to the tower, which was welcome exercise for me after relaxing all morning."
"Gorgeous views and easy enough walk from town. It is a bit steep walking up, but it does not take long to get there. The view makes the walk worth it. The last bit of the walk up is narrow with no shoulder/sidewalk to walk on. There are a lot of rented golf carts coming down the hill along with tour buses/jeeps. Just be aware and stay to the side. If you get there at noon, you get the full ringing of the chimes. There is an informational sign to read in the front with interesting facts."
"A great hike with a reward at the end - love the Westminister Chimes echoing throughout the town of Avalon and the view is gorgeous. Hike is an incline but easy to do."
"Easy hike from the main road , just 13 minutes walk estimate. It offers a beautiful view of Avalon. We could not enter , not sure if anyone has access there. Every hour you hear the bell ringing the time."
"At the roundabout heading towards the casino don't go straight (to the Casino), don't take the second option, but take the third option that runs very much uphill. Take your first right after you've gone about a block uphill. This leads to a windy uphill climb that becomes one way after passing the Zane Grey Pueblo. You keep climbing steeply uphill away from town. At the crest is a gated road into the interior (don't take that) and then one of the Zipline-across-the-valley adrenaline junkie places. You are now descending steeply and come to the Catalina Chimes Tower about halfway down on the way back to town. We did this in two heavily loaded gas golf carts and I descended very slowly. Golf carts often have a single brake on the axle instead of four brakes (one per wheel) and I didn't want to experience brake fade. The views are stunning and the chimes are for real (we had the chimes mark the quarter hour while we were taking photos). Well worth the views and the adventure, but a steep drive."
