"This a great place to visit, we learn so much about California and when it was part of Mexico, call La Alta California. Monterey was the capitol, and just a this spot the American flag was starting for the first time, even before was American land. Also you can see so many artifacts of that time! Thus was a great place to take my family and lear about both cultures."
"Update- It is now open again to the public. Worth a quick stop for Spanish, Mexican and US transitions through history. It is next to the pier and the exit faces a small park. Takes a few to ten minutes or so, depending on how many questions you have. Docent was very helpful."
