"I hope we can come back! I really enjoyed our time here at Ivanhoe Village. We were here for 5 years and the top three things I have to say are(other than the nice neighbors): 1- Maintenance Requests are handled promptly 2- Amenities are kept tidy and clean 3- They are great at communicating to you via email or phone They could improve on the dog areas around the complex which are right outside the apartment doors which often smell like pee but its not too bad. Also when they are renovating above or below you, be prepared for it to be very loud most of the day and for several days."
"BEWARE, AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP! By far, the WORST place I’ve ever lived in my 57 years of life! I lived there for 6 months and am SO thankful to be out of there. My roommate and I had to move out as they raised the rent by an outrageous amount, which, according to other tenants we spoke with, they do every single year. Yet they don’t even make any upgrades to compensate! The place is very old and run down. Management is corrupt, greedy, dishonest, incompetent and heartless. They NEVER return your phone calls and were MIA during supposed “open” office hours. My roommate and I spent TWO WHOLE DAYS cleaning that place from top to bottom. I even strained my neck in the process, thus having to miss 2 days of work. We left NO damage whatsoever. Yet they STILL refuse to refund even a penny of our hard-earned $750, claiming they had to spend 8 hours cleaning. The only things we did not have time to clean were the blinds and windows yet those would certainly NOT take 8 hours. Unless the housekeepers dawdled and took their sweet time?? Plus $200 to repaint?? Besides this, they have POPCORN CEILINGS. Don’t they realize these can leak asbestos, which is hazardous to your health?? And my bathroom actually had this pull down chain from the ceiling to activate the fan! Talk about archaic. Furthermore, BOTH of our bathrooms only had 1 socket, so we had to unplug our toothbrushes every time we wanted to plug in something else. ALL of the drawers and cabinets in the apt would stick when trying to open due to gazillion layers of paint. The vertical blinds on the windows are SO cheap that any time we tried to gently open them at least 1 would fall off! So we just gave up after awhile and left them closed. I spoke with my brother-in-law, who just so happens to be a real estate attorney, and he said we would definitely have a valid case in small claims court. Planning to file asap, not only for our deposit to be returned but compensation for the emotional distress we’ve both endured from this situation. Anyone who wants to join us feel free to PM me!"
"We just moved in and Nina has been amazing. She has helped get everything that needed to be fixed before move in completed and when something maintenance was quick to be here and fix it. Glad me moved here"
"I'll start with the good: this a beautiful and well maintained property. Units are spacious and it's a great area for me being walking distance from gyms, stores, parks, and close to major freeways as well. Now, the not so good: To be fair, I've had limited direct interaction with management, maintenance, and other staff in the few months I've stayed. Those interactions have not all been bad, but this week some separate and very important matters were mishandled by maintenance and the new assistant manager. First with maintenance: The person I believe is the lead tech is lazy. I had a issue with the shower that should've been simple to resolve and done so months ago. (Water was not coming out of the shower head) Maintenance deliberately ignored the details in my work order request, made a temporary fix to the shower to get it "working", and left it believing they would "trick" me. Although they managed to get water to come out of the shower head through some other means, whenever I turned the knob "off" and back "on", the water stopped flowing. They must have known this, because the knob was specifically left "on" to avoid further water flow stoppage. The issue was, as I suggested in my request, that the issue was with the valve, they just didn't want to shut off the water & cut through the walls to fix it. Now to the assistant manager: without getting into too much detail about a personal matter, she is incompetent at her job. She's new, about as new as I am a tenant here. I've been patient with and polite to her, but when I went to her with an issue while the manager was out, I received awful advice from her that has created a complex issue with management, my rent, and my bank. I tried to explain the situation, keep them updated, and explain the ramifications of said advice, without accusing or blaming or getting excited. But when I do, I'm being talked over, I'm being told "I do not feel this is not an error on managements' part" (who said it was? And who asked how you felt?), this the banks' fault, and I'm being told to wait for the manager or speak to a more competent manager from their sister property, which, for that last part, is perfectly fine. I look forward to getting the correct information to someone who is not out of their depth, stressed, and doesn't know what they are doing. But that highlights a common theme with these two individuals: they are far more concerned with PRETENDING to be competent at their jobs than listening to the information being provided so they can actually make competent decisions/resolutions. For the assistant manager, if you personally couldn't do anything on your end to help me with my situation, and there was a manager at a sister property available to help me and you, why didn't you suggest that before telling me to get my bank involved? Now, you're confused about what happened, but I am not, and when I try to explain, you're too frustrated and stressed about potentially being liable for something that I imagine could jeopardize your job. To be clear, I am not your boss, it's not my concern whether or not you appear good at your job or not or what marks you receive on your next performance review, my only concern is about my tenancy and rent. The same message to be applied to maintenance, I didn't study to become a plumber because I have no interest in doing the work. I am not authorized to cut into the walls or perform fixes to the unit and I have no desire to. I didn't put in a work request so you can try to explain to me how plumbing works. Despite it all, even I knew the shower head was not the issue but something related to the valve behind the wall. If you know plumbing, and somehow didn't make that same deduction despite the obvious symptoms, what is your excuse? Edit: I am a resident of Ivanhoe Village. Edit 2: publicly I'm told to reach out for assistance, privately I'm told management is not in the office. Lmao"
"Ivanhoe is a beautiful vintage property with a wonderful community of residents. My Husband and I have lived here for 3 years. There are many amenities, My favorite is the heated resort style pool. In the summer we pack up for the day like we are going to the beach. Its the best."
