"BEWARE. Ladies, be VERY careful if you are considering moving here. There is a threatening man living in the apartment laundry room / in the alley (behind Brick and Bell). He stares into the windows and harasses residents and has (presumably) destroyed property (laundry room, storage area), as he is the only one consistently seen living in those areas. He has been in the area for over 4 months with no solution. He is incredibly scary to run into at night or early hours when you’re trying to take out trash, use laundry, take groceries in, go to/from your car. I’ve lived in the La Jolla Shores area since 2010, but the past 2 years have been considerably worse for theft (just for me: 3 car break ins, 2 surfboards stolen and multiple packages in just two years). Also much worse for this street: safety, noise and general public nuisance of residents (I’ve had multiple people/tourists from the street walk into my studio to “check it out”…). He appears to be on some sort of drug, and does not stop staring at you when you enter your studio, even if you make eye contact and ask him politely to stop or leave. I’ve had to leave my blinds closed 24/7 and was finally forced to move out as it’s only gotten worse over 4 months. I feel women in particular should know about this threat before considering living here: in these small studios, there is no safe visual or other escape from harassment. You also must leave a window open to have any sort of ventilation or AC. I’m posting this to hopefully finally protect my fellow female neighbors, whom I consider friends, and to protect anyone vulnerable considering moving here as our collective efforts and concern has had no effect. There have been no changes to property to protect residents, and no security on site. Police can only do so much for the rampant homelessness in this area, but a real concern is that police can do very little if he is in the street staring into your studio, and you can’t do much as a resident to secure your own safety because of how these units are built. BEWARE."
