"The worst property management team out there. The staff is the worst, they are nice but don't know the system they use, and are not properly trained on how to help with anything including paying the rent or bills for the place. The first month to move in they need a cashers check which is fine. The 2nd month I paid with a check for rent and after that we asked how to pay the bills. The lady instructed us to pay online for the bills, you can set up an auto payment, so I did. Under the auto payment it didn't say they were going to take out the rent also with that payment and the worker never mentioned it either. Then later that month I payed the rent with a check to the exact same lady and she took my check. Then they charged me the bills, the rent online automatically, and cashed the check. So I had to call my bank to cancel the check payment and they charged me $25. $25 dollars for your employee not explaining anything and messing up and also then being the same person to take and cash the check. Then this month I assumed they would electronically take out the rent again since it was set up the previous month that way and they didn't and charged me $75 for a late fee on top of that. So the last two month $100 with of charges for their employee not know the system they use or how to instruct us on how the system works. That is really bad and I bet they don't reverse the fees, knowing them, and how they operate as a business taking advantage of their tenants. To make things even worse I called the first time and talked to Jennifer and she was nice enough. She apologized for their employee not knowing or explaining their system or process correctly. She said she would speak to the other employees. She agreed I should cancel the check but never said anything about a $25 charge. Then they left a letter on my door after, and did the same thing with the $75 late charge. Not even a call or a knock when they put it there to speak to us. After I spoke to Jennifer the first time I called back to speak with her again about the $25 charge and they said she was busy and she would call me back, they took my name and number and she never did. I called again with the same outcome. Like I said at the beginning this property management team is the worst!"
"Update as of 3/2/23 - can no longer recommend due to safety concerns. We have lived here for over 1.5 years and no longer feel safe. One of our bicycles was recently stolen from the patio, someone else’s catalytic converter was stolen from their car, multiple neighbors have had packages stolen from their front door, and the mail area has been broken into yet again (still no cameras since the last time this happened), see photo. Three concerns: -One or both gates are broken half the time and they have no efficient way for residents to let guests in when it isn’t broken (the call box doesn’t work). -There is an open walkway from the main road (California St) - no gate. We have noticed unhoused people walking in with their caravans of recycled goods on bikes or wagons. -Per the office staff, there are only two cameras in the entire apartment complex. One at each “gated” entrance. The location is optimal for hospital employees but at what risk? — Update as of 2/27/22 After having lived here for almost a year, we can safely say the pros outweigh the cons. It's a safe, quiet neighborhood and great for hospital employees (6 min to VA, 10-12 min to LLU). There has, however, been an issue with the mail recently. Luckily our mailbox wasn't affected, but a whole section of the mail boxes were broken into and it doesn't seem like any cameras have been installed since (see photo). Some recent complaints we've seen here: -Issues with the trash areas- management tries their best to remind tenants to break down boxes and keep the area tidy, but it's up to the tenants for follow through. We have been fine with our trash receptacle area. -Homeless people/safety- we have never seen any in the apartment complex, nor have we ever felt unsafe. -Parking- everyone is assigned one covered spot. There are uncovered spots for second cars/guests. That spot probably won't be right outside your unit, but we've always found one a short walk away. -There are un-renovated and renovated (stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops) units, which vary in price and appliance quality. We didn't have an issue with paying for a unit we didn't expect. The un-renovated units are a little outdated, but ours is perfectly clean and functional. -Maintenance- urgent requests have always been addressed within 1 day (ex. clogged toilet). Non-urgent requests can take 1-3 days (ex. leaky faucet). -- Our average utility bill for 2bed/2bath with 2 adults: $130/mo electric $80/mo water/sewage/trash (combined and billed according to usage) $90/mo gas Pros: -$1945/mo rent is decent given space and location (lease signed 2021) -fairly quick response to maintenance requests (1 day for urgent, 1-3 days for non-urgent) -Receptive office staff, though depending on who you communicate with, they may not be friendly. Tavia and Debbie are the best! -Close trash/recycling receptacles; frequently emptied -Stress-free food deliveries -Pet deposit is $200 + $20/mo (relatively cheap) -Offer package concierge lockers with a one-time activation fee, though we don't recommend it. Amazon only delivers to your door; USPS packages have all fit in our mail box or the larger package mailboxes (see photo), which are free. DHL and Fedex also seem to only deliver to door, not the Concierge Cons: -Wish they had professional photos of all the unit styles online. Made the decision-making process difficult during covid -At least one gate usually broken -Some noise from upstairs; cannot hear next door neighbors -No bike racks"
"PLEASE READ before considering moving into Barton Vineyard Apartments. I just moved in a week ago 4/15/22 and the experience has been horrible. We had to tell them to replace the broken microwave. The floor in the living room is not leveled evenly, they said they can’t do anything about it and couldn’t even explain the reason for it not being leveled evenly. The hot water boiler makes loud noises throughout the day & night and doesn’t let me sleep. We requested for this to be fixed but was told we have to submit a maintenance ticket and to expect a long wait since they are backed up with their ticket requests. Being a new resident this is something that should have been fixed before new residents moved into the unit. I was warned about their management/service being poor but didn’t think it would be this BAD! My bf and I are paying quite a bit, I was expecting way better service than this. Please do not move to Barton Vineyard Apartments."
"I am a loma linda university physician. I am writing this review to make future residents aware of some points before they move in to Barton Vineyards. Overall it is not too bad but i think for the price you can get a much better deal either with other complex or to rent a house nearby like on mission road for example. I will make it very brief and in points. My goal is to help set expectations so no surprises or disappointment. - Security is definitely an issue. It is NOT a gated community. The gates were almost always broken and I have personally seen homeless people pushing those grocery store carts with all their stuff INSIDE the complex. Also there is an access to the community without a gate. - It is not a luxury complex. The apartments are outdated and amenities aren’t maintained. The refrigerator, dish washer, microwave were not in a good shape. MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE EXACT UNIT YOU WILL RENT AND NOT JUST THE MODEL UNIT. THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE. - Parking is not available for second cars usually you will park far away. Make sure you check your designated parking spot as it might be quite a distance. - Maintenance is not speedy and can take few days. Many times I submit a request for maintenance and they send email the request was full-filled however no body showed up. It can take a week to fix it. - Management is not cooperative or helpful. They don’t work to make things easier and some of them are rude at times. This is a common complaint at Barton Vineyards. Some others are helpful and nice but apparently the rude ones are the more senior or in charge. You will see that in other people comments too. - Expect some extra fees here and there. Apparently they need to make more money so they make them up. - Trash area is always unclean and stinky. Rarely I find a place in the trash can to put my trash bags and usually you have to leave them nearby. - Good thing is that it is quite and located in a convenient spot to the university."
