"I lived here during my last year at UCI. It was an average apartment but very overpriced for what you get, especially as a student. When I moved in, the apartment was not clean and several things were broken, including the air conditioner. Maintenance was on top of it fairly quick but never truly fixed the problem (it would leak on the floor the whole time I lived there). The parking is nearly a 20 minute walk, and the UCI Parking officers are eager to give out tickets even if you need to park for a few minutes to unload. The student workers were usually very receptive to my concerns, which was positive. However, the full time workers don’t care about the students and are usually very rude when you ask for help. I would only recommend living here out of necessity and to have a relatively close apartment to campus."
"Nice, clean, close to the campus, fairly new. The 2 bedroom apt comes w 2 beds w mattress and 2 dressers along with 1 small closet 5ft across per bedroom. No tables or desks. There are 1 armchair, 1 loveseat, 2 coffee tables, and 2 barstools. Best place to study are the study rooms. Definitely bring your own lighting fixtures as it's pretty dim in the evenings. Plenty of under the bed storage"
"Absolutely trash wifi. As a college student in 2022, good wifi connection is absolutely necessary for success. I have already been unable to turn in 2 assignment because of this wifi. I'd rather be commuting for 1 hour a day if I knew living here was this bad. Please, ik the cheap monthly price is tempting, but spend the extra 100 for a better that actually includes chairs and desks as well as free electricity bill, and hell, maybe even a parking lot."
"I lived here for only a year during my second year as an undergrad and for good reasons. First of all, the parking situation is absolutely horrendous! I believed signing my lease that a 15 minute walk to my car wouldn’t be that big of an issue but it absolutely was. I ended up developing sciatica halfway into the year (sport related reasons) and the walk to my car every single time put me in the worst pain of my life. Why parking is so far away when no other complex on campus or even outside of campus is like this is beyond me. I didn’t spend my weekends at Puerta del Sol but I eventually stopped going to my apartment altogether by spring quarter (chose to live with someone else outside of campus), only stopping by to grab things or do laundry. This was because of the walking situation. There’s just no consideration for people with possible mobility issues or anything of the like that may inhibit someone’s ability to walk and get to places. Even having people walk so far just to get to their car so they can go to their job that pays bills is just too much. The only reason I still paid rent at a place I no longer lived at was because of the lease I couldn’t get out of early. I also had to wait 4 MONTHS for a refund on my parking pass as well. I originally paid the $295 but days after, it was dropped to $195 and was told that refunds would be issued to those who paid the original price. Well, lo and behold, almost a month after I moved everything out and ended my lease, I get an email to pick up my check for the refund. I understand being busy as I work in customer service myself and I understand places can get pretty backed up with work but this is a bit ridiculous If you’re financially covered and don’t own a car, then this place can be alright for you. If you work off campus, travel a lot, or have mobility issues like myself, then I would highly recommend looking at somewhere else to lease from…"
"Lived here for 2 years and it wasn’t bad, it was a place to live and it was cheaper than anything else. The horrible thing about Puerta and all of ACC is that there is no priority for renewing tenets, so don’t get too comfortable. If you are a good tenet it doesn’t matter, there will be a new applicant that has priority over you on the waitlist. So if you’d like housing insecurity in a market where it is impossible for students to find a lease outside of ACC, then this place might be perfect for you."
