"My husband and I had made an appointment to tour the apartment. On the appointment day there was an Asian lady in the leasing office who had the office door locked she asked what we wanted we told her we had an appointment to view an apartment and showed her the email. She continued to tell us we didn't have an appointment and to come another day it was the only day we had off and told her we'd be quick. She asked for ID and asked us what rooms we were interested in we told her and she proceeded to tell us our 3 year old daughter wouldn't be allowed in a one bedroom apartment and was trying to stall in showing us around the apartment or even giving us a price rate and we decided it was best we looked somewhere else upon reading the reviews we noticed we were not the only ones treated like this."

"Move in date was in feb 2022.This was my first time leaving home country and moving to US.as soon as I landed with my hubby we checked out all the budget friendly apartments and finalized hastings in 2days. After signing the lease I checked the reviews. I was so afraid to move in and we even thought of canceling it.Gave a thought on how the conversation went with the landlord lady aka old lady or Kathy.we felt she was more than happy to help and showed all the available options .I suggest not to worry about her and go for Hastings apts.We being newly wed,she said few words on how to move ahead in life and take care f each other, safe places to roam near by ,good restaurants etc .,all in all ,she was our first guide.I felt really good taking her suggestions.U shud talk to her . Coming to the community, maintenance ppl are good and quick.issue is resolved same day Our apt used to get moderate amount of sunlight in the morning .used ac once in a while in summer All the grocery stores are near by and few are walkable Bart is near by Safest community.you can see all national residents. Definitely suitable for singles,couples and with kids I used to complete easily 7000 steps by walking in the community Both the leasing girls at office are available for help we found Kathy more helping and going extra mile Paper work for leasing is easy,no hidden charges Most of the expenses are included in the rent. Finally if you are good everyone will be good."

"Met the old rude lady again for viewing. She also manages the hastings east apartment. She isn't flexible at all and is not interested in showing the apartment. If the management wants to sell these old apartments better find a good manager."

"THE EXPERIENCE OF LIVING HERE WAS TERRIBLE. i would like to give 0 star if possible. I had lived by myself and would not stay in this apartment anymore and even left sooner than the contract finished but i still paid the rent for total 1 year. The management of this apartment is very terrible. most problems were caused by the management and the management guys. 1. apartment manager did not allow me to to receive package. All deliver guys told me the lady always gave them hard time to deliver and i did not receive my package right away every times but she kept them. Until one time I said her behavior may violated the CA law as she kept my package and did not gave me back. I called to the couriers and asked how about the shipment and they said somebody signed and got the shipment. Then I finally knew that the apartment manager signed and kept my shipment without my authorization and did not gave me back. Then I went to the office and asked her about the shipment and she shouted at me and yelled. I felt I was in a dangerous situation, so, i did not argue with her, got my shipment and left. 2. I keep everything clean and tidy and never have problem before, but i got complaint from the lady as using the curtain in my house was not allow. She request me has to change right away. 3. Problem of pest control, there were very big and terrible bugs in my room those scared me so bad. I reported to her with pictures of the terrible in my room but she did not responded. 4. I kept the apartment very clean and tidy before moving and they deducted around half of the deposit without any reason but just for cleansing, I did not argue with her and waste time. Just want to move ASAP... 5. I had a friend and stayed only one night in my apartment for couple hours and they charged. I did not know other apartment charge even 1 person staying for 1 night for couple hours. It's fine, I paid but it seemed somebody working there looking all tenants closely every minute with surveillance system.... I am so happy that I moved sooner and ran away from the nightmare."

"So, now that I've moved out and got my rent deposit back, I can tell a bit about the good and bad here: Good: - Super safe. Landlady is around all the time and checks everybody who comes and goes. Generally quiet except for the occasional party in the pool area. - Maintenance people are good. - Lots of cameras everywhere. Grounds are kept well. - The landlady was very fair with my deposit after I moved out. I broke a sink and she charged me the cost from Home Depot, which was $80 IIRC. I did pay other cleaning fees, but there was no gouging. - Reasonable for what you pay around here. Bad: - The reasons it's safe is because of the landlady who takes her job very, very seriously. She seems to know everything that is going on and she gets really personal with the reports. She is there all the time, and her personality can rub some people the wrong way. I could deal with her, but I'm a pretty mellow guy. I got married during my stay there and my wife wasn't digging it too much. - The apartments have a balcony, but the interior hallway gets no air. There are a lot of cooking smells from other apartments that stay in here, with no breeze to blow them away. - It gets really hot during the summer, and you'll be running the AC all day, even when you are at work. The closed interior hallways get REALLY hot. - People move in and out all the time. - The place has seen better days, as have so many apartments around here. The balconies are sagging into the ground, but they basically look like every other apartment complex around there, but a little more well-kept. - My apartment didn't get a lot of sun. I would say, for a single woman who wants a safe place, or if you are just starting out and have young kids, this would be a good place to stay. If you don't want somebody getting up in your bidness constantly, I'd recommend another place. I'd stay here again, but my wife, most likely not."
