"My brother was referred to this location by Hope Facility august 16th, he was giving medications to last him 1 months and was told to contact Access to make an appt to speak to a Psychiatrist for refills. We were told that his info was not in their system and had to complete an assessment. We called back again and they told us the same thing, which resulted in a 2nd assessment. Then they gave us Abel’s number for this location. My brother and I have been trying to get a hold of him for 3 weeks now. We’ve left 2-3 voicemails with no response and no call back. I can understand that you all are busy, but at this point… this is complete negligence, which will be extremely detrimental to my brothers mental health. We finally decide to call able non stop today (9/5). he finally picked up and requested a 3rd assessment. , told us that my brother would not be able to get his medication until the 21st and that there was nothing else he could do. So we decided to contact a different mental hospital, my brother has an appt with a psychiatrist tomorrow. I’ll be contacting hope facility so they can transfer his referral there. If it’s taking you 3 weeks to finally answer your phone , I can’t imagine it getting better from here. 0stars."
"Rude and Lazy. I had a great first impression of this place, couldnt wait to start working with them. However the second you need to actually establish care they dump you. The receptionist is rude and unprofessional. Ray dodges calls and appointments, seek care at a facility that actually knows what it's doing. This place is a waste of time. Such a let down, I really thought they were professionals."
"Well... they are still at it. The morning staff at the front desk, making discrimination remarks to people who are disabled,, saying like people on "SSI, ," are"not welcome",, very unprofessional.El Hogar is a place where people with disabilitys,SSI,are to find help.. Not some kind of street gangs,Dangerous facility.. consumer beware....."
"What I really appreciate about El Hogar is that the agency not only helps with mental health but has many resources and referrals that will help get back. The agency also can provide transportation for consumers only to any appointments that you have at El Hogar."
"El Hogar should be top of you list if you're homeless and in need of assistance. Note: El Hogar is not a shelter, though they can assist with referrals and temporary placement as well as more permanent housing. They offer light meals, laundry, counseling & medication, case management, a charging lounge with TV and outlets to charge your devices, transportation, and group activities. Everything is ADA accessible. The staff has to deal with a lot of challenging personalities and can seem a bit impatient at times. Though in general everyone is kind and interested in helping those in need. Remember to always be aware of the rules and mind them. There is little tolerance for shenanigans, foul language or agressive behavior - all good things for the staff and visitors. Even the most easily frightened can feel safe here. El Hogar also houses the SMART program, assisting with connecting to and applying for benefits. The SMART program moves mountains for folks in need and works faster than you could hope for anywhere. They will stand with you through the entire lengthy process and do their best to keep you going while you wait for resources like SSI to engage. Try to be patient. I know this is challenging at best, but understand that the small staff here is doing their best to help oceans of needy folks. Stick with your appointments, mind your manners, do your best to keep your end of the bargain and the staff will stick with you. Though it may not always feel like it, these folks are angels who deserve at least all the respect and appreciation you can muster. This place and it's staff have saved my life, no exaggeration, multiple times. Thank you El Hogar for being there for me! Bless you!"
