"I usually have awesome experiences at Scripps, but after my last visit at health express I will not go back to this location. I saw Dr. Carrie Lee Crawford. I came in because I had a severe sore throat for over a week, and had completely lost my voice for several days. My condition was getting worse, and I have a baby daughter who was also ill. My baby passed on the illness to me from daycare, and her doctor diagnosed it as bacterial (and she had gotten better with antibiotics) so I was wondering if I probably needed to same treatment. Dr. Lee did not provide a full exam on me. She only briefly looked at my throat and ears. She did not feel for swollen lymph nodes, and come to think of it, I don’t even think she listened to my lungs or heart. She really only did a strep and covid test and told me to go home. She told me it was a virus and could take 21 days to get better- I totally understand it could be a virus, but I feel like she didn’t take into consideration the illnesses in my household. I honestly felt that Dr. Lee seemed hesitant to examine me— like she was afraid of getting Covid or something (which I don’t have and tested negative for a few days earlier). She sat very far away from me and the exam was very brief. I was also told the only reason to come back was if I started to have trouble breathing. This is in direct contrast with what Scripps said when we called back a few days later — that if I wasn’t better to come back in regardless (definitely don’t wait 21 days!). My daughters pediatrician did more of an exam on me a few days later and actually explained why she thought I was in so much pain! Overall, I did not really feel cared for or taken seriously."
"Today I came in after making an appointment online through the MyChart portal. Check in was easy and the medical technicians were kind. Unfortunately my PA was not so kind. As a medical professional myself and working through some stressful years, I understand the burnout, and even when my patients are scared or difficult- I always try to give them the time of day or extra care they may need to feel better even if I can’t give them exactly what they want. This is not the care I received by Carrie Lee. From the moment she walked into my room I did not feel that I was cared for. She interrupted me as I was explaining my symptoms, made me feel super exposed over the line of work I am in, and when I questioned her opinion/diagnosis she said she didn’t have time to keep explaining why she felt I wasn’t sick. Her words verbatim were “if you’re looking for meds then you can wait over in urgent care because they’re the ones who will probably just give you what you want” As if I was asking for oxy or something. I came in because I have a sinus infection but because I haven’t had symptoms for over ten days then she didn’t want to prescribe me anything. I kept telling her that I had this cold for over two weeks and although I have been keeping it at bay with OTC medication, now it has taken a turn for the worst. My lymph’s are swollen, but Carrie couldn’t be bothered to palpitate my nodes. She kept talking about my rapid strep test being negative but my pain wasn’t in my throat, my teeth hurt, and the pressure in between my eyes and nose hurt so much I can’t sleep. I explained that when I call out of work I don’t get sick days and she said “well only if you had Covid then you could get some sick pay” mind you I work in a small practice so no government funding for companies smaller than 10 employees- but what in the world does that have to do with anything ???!! I have to have Covid just so she can care ? I felt like she thought I was making it all up and totally dismissive of my symptoms. She was literally holding the door open for me to get me to leave and when I asked for another opinion she told me again to go to urgent care. Cameron, the supervisor, had come in and he said he would report the situation to her supervisor and I would receive a call from them at the end of the day. What a sad day in medicine to be a patient who didn’t fit the rubric for treatment. Carrie Lee didn’t care about whom I was as a person or the whole picture of my symptoms. She made it clear that she didn’t have time for me and I’m sure she cycled through her other patients so she could hit her goals for the month and probably get a kickback on seeing as many patients as possible. Next time I’ll just go to urgent care."
"I'm at the urgent care. Staff is friendly, covid safe. They sent me to a separate waiting area since I had no covid symptoms. The building is beautiful. The satellite image on maps here is outdated though. Construction is definitely finished."
"Quick, courteous and friendly care."
