"They'll invade your privacy in order to jack up the monthly rate of your auto insurance! I never bother to do the verified odometer reading each year when it's time to renew my policy since the amount I drive can change from year to year. This year it's gone up due to working two jobs now in order to keep up with the skyrocketing cost of living. Especially since my partner also lost his, I'm having to pay for everything! I got a letter from them saying they use public government records such as smog checks from the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) to verify the accuracy of odometer readings. It was only because of some California law called Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act that required them to send me a notice saying they used those records to find out the amount of miles on my car and used that information to increase the annual mileage rating on this year's auto policy renewal. As a result, the minimum monthly amount I have to pay has increased. WELL EXCUSE ME FOR HAVING TO WORK TWO DAMN JOBS NOW IN ORDER TO PAY ALL THE BILLS!!! NOW THIS ONE HAS GONE UP EVEN MORE LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE HAS! IT'S INSULTING AND FEELS LIKE A SLAP IN THE FACE!"

"I usually come Saturday mornings for car registration. But they seem to be closed Saturdays now. I can't come first thing since I work 5am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday. Because of this, I have to wait in line after work. So it's like the working are punished for working. Since Iraq, there are things that I do to help keep calm and avoiding lines is one of them. Can't do that here. Plus, it's windy today, not fun standing in it. And be ready to pay cash. Last couple years, I made the mistake of thinking I can pay debit since the DMV can do it. If the lowly, horrible DMV can take debit, why can't AAA!?!?! There is also a member check in because of COVID. Be ready to wait upwards of an hour. I don't have full coverage, I'm on someone else's for roadside assistance. So, just using the membership for towing and DMV services"
