Good luck seeing an MD, even when referred to one by their own PA. If you're not expecting, plan to wait nine months to even get an appointment."

"I had recently moved to Santa Barbara and was looking for an OBGYN due to becoming pregnant. Was able to get an appointment with Dr.Serene Alexander. I was blessed enough to get her, she is an amazing OBGYN. Always makes my appointments pleasant and comfortable. She always answers all of my questions and takes the time to make sure all of them are answered. Had a great delivery she did an amazing job. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience here."

"I was referred here by my PCP. I have a genuinely urgent gynecological issue, which I won't detail here, suffice it to say however, my sister recently went thru uterine cancer treatment and I need a specialist to rule this out (or in) for me - a specialist that will listen to the very real symptoms I've had and am having, look at the results from exams already performed and then determine what the best course of action is. I contacted this office on Wed., after intake questions and confirmation of receipt of referral, I was advised that a message would go to the triage nurse, and then I could expect a call back for scheduling. I contacted this office again on Friday, and was advised that there was no availability for "my kind of appt" and that I ought to contact "County", assuring me I'd get in quicker "over there". ??? I am confused as to exactly what "my kind of appt" means - the kind where a patient is seeking care from a gynecology specialist? That kind? Is it that I'm no longer in the "child bearing" years, is my age the problem? Is it my insurance, is that the problem? Perhaps, both of these? WTAF The fact that I waited a day and 1/2, for a call back that was likely never going to come is quite aggravating, not to mention incredibly callous (as to whomever would have been responsible for making that call, staff? triage nurse? MD?) There are legitimate reasons I was referred here, by another medical professional. This office lists 10 providers/specialists, none are available??? Ever? Just a straight up declination to provide services?????? Sansum's "board certified Obstetrics & gynecology (Ob/Gyn) physicians and nurse practitioners are devoted to primary care and reproductive medical care for women...." Hmmmm, apparently NOT if you are a NEW patient, in urgent need of such expertise and care. "County" by the way, advised me in May, that an appt for a routine PAP was not available until October (!!), that I'd better look elsewhere. And there you have it readers, health "care" in the magical city of Santa Barbara, in a nutshell."
