"Floor covering in lobby and on walkway to rooms was extremely slippery in the rain. First room reeked of mold (I didn't even go in...could smell it from the door). Second room was alright except that not all blinds worked properly so light shone in. Big gap under 1/2 of door at least an inch. No vanity in bathroom so tricky to even lay out toothbrush and paste. My daughter's room had a very stained carpet on the floor. The receptionist was nice but seemed exhausted. I'd say that a good effort had been made to give a 60's style motel a facelift (new plumbing and nicely painted. It just needs a once over to update things that make a difference between a 3 and 5 star place. Terrific dining place directly across the street."
"This is a gem. The rooms are super clean. The people are super friendly, and it's centrally located in downtown Davis and not far from the campus. Just know that you're getting double beds and not queen size beds when you get a two bed room. But that was my mess up for not reading the description."
"I stayed for several nights at this hotel. The room is spacious and it was clean. Also they handle packages well, and the location is perfect. However, the negatives are quite significant. The bed is not comfortable and the AC is quite noisy. Another big issue is their lack of professionalism with respect to breakfast. First, it does not have many options. Second, many times utensils are missing an no one seems to care. The people responsible for service have breakfast with the guests, occupying a table, and just chat without any concern for the guests' needs. At last but not least, I had an important meeting on a Tuesday at 8 am and I arrived at 7 am (the opening time) to eat. There was no one there. I went back to my room and returned at 7:35 am, when a person arrived. She told me to come back 5 minutes later. She opened the room at 7:40 am (!!!), I ate quickly and arrived late for my meeting. I would not recommend this hotel."
"The only real pro you get with this place is that it's right in the middle of downtown. If you like to actually sleep, then don't stay here. The room doors don't have adequate weather stripping so any warm air that the wall heater/AC system generates escapes pretty easily. The wall mounted heater/AC system also does not have adequate weather stripping/insulation, so warm air easily escapes through there. As a result, you have the loudest wall heater you'll have ever heard constantly turning on and off all night; making it near impossible to sleep. Keep in mind that Davis has extreme temperatures during winter and summer. This place might be okay to stay at if you don't need the heater/AC to be on. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner. Lots of grime on the shower head, and could also be seen in the little nooks and corners of the shower in general. There was also a small alcove in the shower wall where soap/shampoo were kept. The vertical/wall part was for some reason made of wood. This wooden part showed some small signs of mold. I wish I took pictures."
"I was very excited to find somewhere to stay that was centrally located in downtown Davis. It was a short walk to many restaurants which was very convenient. The parking spots don’t have painted lines, but tiles that are difficult to see. Many cars were parked over the line. The air conditioning wouldn’t run continuously. It kept stopping and going throughout the night which made it difficult to fall asleep from both the noise from it starting back up and the heat when it shut down. The room was very clean, but the bathroom was a different story. There was hair on the shower floor and soap grime in the shower shelf. There were also stains on the towels."
