"Great value. Clean. Heater wasn't coming on and attendant promptly brought a floor heater. The heater began to warm the room after a half hour and he said they will fix it. Very very helpful. Gave us a huge room with 3 beds whe we had only requested two beds at no extra cost!"

"The staff are nice but other than that this place is a dump! The rooms are tiny, they smell, there are stains all over the floor. I was afraid to even put my stuff on the bed for fear of bugs! The pool is closed due to federal regulations. The lobby/breakfast room smells like mildew ... i have nothing good to say about this place.. you can find much nicer places down the street that are just as close to the beach, and the same price.."

"This used to be a favorite inexpensive place to stay when visiting Monterey/Carmel (for both business and pleasure)...located a short walk from Asilomar Beach and a short drive to downtown Carmel and Monterey it was a great location...but the ownership has deferred maintenance on the old building, so the exterior is not only in need of painting, but also structural repair. Many of the supports for the eaves are detaching from the building, and on my last stay, the bed was covered with evidence of termites. When this was brought to the management's attention, little was offered in the way of solutions, and I felt like their basic attitude was "Sorry, but there's nothing we can do." I might check it out again if the ownership changes, but until that time, I won't be back."

"Incredibly generous and kind staff. Let me check out late, didn't charge me for modifying my reservation on short notice when they were able to fill the room. Yes the facilities are old but they are well maintained and the people here take pride in keeping up the place. In short, I had a wonderful stay."

"The lady @ the desk was super nice & helpful as was the man who brought us more supplies. They sell very cheap post cards, breakfast had yogurt, waffles, bagels, hard boiled eggs, fruit, etc. Our room was in pretty bad shape, really. Carpet filthy and/or stained, whole place smelled of mildew, fridge didn't work, (but there was ice), no microwave, had to run the water a long long time to get warm & the walls are thin. The place has seen better days let me just say that. So much would have to be spent to fix it up, I'm afraid its a tear down in waiting."
