"Room was dusty and smelled. Exposed carpet nails, peeling carpet, chipped tub. The room hasn’t been updated in a decade +. Its not expensive to fix torn carpet, hotel didn’t care when we expressed concern."

"If you look at this place as more of an Airbnb than a normal motel you might have different expectations. The location is excellent, only about a 7 minute walk to the ocean. 5 minute drive to the center of town where most of the good restaurants and shops are. The rooms are large, but definitely older and the furniture is very funky. Nice big kitchen area with everything you need. Unfortunately the property grounds were pretty dirty with trash scattered everywhere. Not sure if this was disrespectful guests, lazy employees, or wild deer and birds having fun. Either way it most definitely could use a clean up. For the price we were happy, but don't get your expectations up too high."

"We rolled in at 11 pm thinking we had made a reservation with a third party… but had not. Thankfully, the owner was just closing up for the night and was able to put us up, at the same price the third party had quoted us! The room had lovely large windows that opened to the sea breeze, a fan overhead (why don’t more hotels have fans??) and a bed that was far more luxurious than I would have expected for the price range (nary a squeak!). We wanted to stay another night but since they were booked the owner called around to nearby motels for us and got us a discounted price at one of the spots down the road. Our whole experience here was unexpectedly welcoming and comforting. We would love to return here. Oh, and Asilomar is right across the street! We walked there for breakfast and an ocean stroll!"
