The Normandy Inn Casanova Street between Monte Verde St. and, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93921

"I would like to express my disappointment following my recent stay at your Carmel facility. I was initially thrilled about the opportunity, but my expectations were, regrettably, not met. My room, numbered 111, was priced at a substantial $322.00, a cost that did not reflect the quality provided. The room had a persistent damp smell and was carpeted with a dirty, worn-out covering. The bathroom was cramped, and the towels supplied were old and worn. I was also disappointed with the breakfast; the quality was poor and having someone observing me throughout breakfast was quite off-putting. It was shocking to observe that the pricing for such an experience was excessively high. In my opinion, the cost of the room should have been around $150.00. An additional issue was the lack of adequate soundproofing in the ceilings, which allowed disturbances from the rooms above. The inadequate ventilation led to a stuffy room ambiance and the noisy air ventilation did little to help. While I appreciated the clean sheets, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. Based on my extensive travel history and experiences with numerous hotels worldwide, I'm afraid I cannot recommend your facility."

"Excellent location, pool was heated in middle of October, which was a nice surprise. Staff friendly, nice continental breakfast. Free parking. We stayed in a cottage which was small and dated, beds were comfortable. Second time we have stayed there."

"I only reduce the rating due to one thing. The walls are very thin, and every noise form the adjoining rooms can be heard. Even low conversations can be heard, especially at night because it is so quiet there. TV, Talking, Laughing, Etc, Etc can be heard. It's a non-starter for me. Otherwise a great place."

"Cute lodging, conveniently located. The room was ok, my only complaint is there is no ac. The lady at the desk did bring is a fan, for which we were forever grateful."

"We went to Carmel from Santa Cruz just for one night to meet friends there. Very nice hotel, clean rooms and good service. Parking was great because during the summer season it is hard to get any street parking. The breakfast buffet is very good and coffee is excellent. Our only negative was the lack of wine glasses. We we asked at the reception desk we were told that due to Covid they had removed all glasses. Well this is a weak excuse because glasses are washed in a dishwasher at very high temperature. The area of Carmel and Monterey is well known for their awesome wineries and most of us enjoy bring a bottle to the hotel for enjoyment. Drinking wine from a plastic cup is not great :-("
