"Previous to tonight, I had only been to Mo's Irish Pub for Drinks. After work this evening my boyfriend and I decided to have dinner there. I am of African descent ( I'm a black woman). Our server was also of African descent. Our server didn't seem very interested in serving us. In my opinion, her attitude suggested that she didn't really want to deal with us. We placed our order and waited over 40 minutes for our food. While waiting for our small order, I witnessed her communicating and helping other guests that happen to be of European descent (White) with ease and a pleasant attitude. The server walked past us several times without speaking or acknowledgment of the fact that we had been waiting for our food for a long time. When she finally brought the food out, it was cold. I could tell it had been sitting for a while before we received our order. I witnessed her helping everyone but us, and not once did she stop to go to the kitchen to check the status of our order. I could be wrong, but in my opinion, because we were black, she didn't feel a need to give us adequate service. I have experienced this behavior before. In my opinion, black people often get misjudged when entering establishments. There is an assumption that we will be difficult or "ghetto." There is a stigma that suggest black people don't tip their servers. Because of these preconceived thoughts of us, we received crappie and unfair treatment. I am very shy, and I don't like to make a fuss because I don't like being labeled difficult. I wasn't going to say anything, but I made a decision to complain about the cold food we received. We ended up getting the order for free. I was still very upset by being treated that way by someone of African descent. I still left her a tip anyway, simply to prove to her that not all black people are loud and ghetto, and we do tip our servers."
"It's Mo's. It's a Irish pub and it is also a Milwaukee staple. This place isn't meant to do anything excellent or out of this world but they do just about everything well enough to keep my business. I have been going here for over 10yrs, mostly for Friday fish fry or before shows across the street, the biggest thing I would change is the limited menu on show nights. I get it, it makes the kitchens life easier and speeds up food service but the show menu is VERY limited and skips some of their best food. Cheers!"
"Walked a few blocks intending to get dessert after catching a show. Restaurant Was pretty empty. Waiting at the bar for 13 minutes, didn’t see a single employee anywhere. Was just about to walk out before someone finally took our drink order….was then told they don’t have any desserts at all. Even though the website lists 3 on the menu. Please update your website. If you don’t carry something anymore it should be removed. We walked in the cold and sat waiting at the bar for absolutely no reason. Really put a sour end to an otherwise good night out."
"I am a single traveler and was seated at a high table, which was no problem. I used my cell phone to read the menu because there was no lighting at the table. Again, manageable. But holding my cell phone flashlight over my salad for 20 minutes to see what I was eating was not working. I told the wait staff who had a light turned on behind the bar. ????? I moved myself to a lit table to finish eating. The place had lots of seating open. Don't know why staff could not help me"
"Very enjoyable experience - was there with my wife and several of my kids and their spouses. Loved the atmosphere and the history. Had a great bartender, Jake - good service, good drinks, good conversation. He introduced himself, gave history of the bar, and had some great stories. Did not order any food, so no rating on that. From out of town, but will definitely go again when back in Milwaukee."
