"I bought the Ultracraft Apex melamine cabinets for my kitchen remodel from KitchenSync. I got a faulty quality and and they started totally shredding in 6 mos. They are supposed to be lifetime guarantee but they are not. Gary has been extremely unresponsive to me. He just doesn't return any calls or emails. After countless useless attempts, I had a friend interested in working with him so she brought up my situation in her appointment. He said he would make good. He finally emailed me back after they brought it up. Another 6 months go by AFTER THAT and I sent him the photos of the faulty quality and after checking in weekly I get this email today from Gary after a total of 2.5 years later of sending him requests "I talked with my factory rep and he talked with the factory to come up with this offer. They agreed to send replacement doors/drawer fronts for anything you want at a 50% discount off of my cost." The warranty is not really a warranty. I still have to pay for it even though it was faulty."
"We have been working with KitchenSync where we purchased custom cabinets and countertops for our kitchen renovation. And unfortunately it has been a complete disaster. Mistake after mistake, lack of communication, finger pointing, and months later our renovation is still not done. Over the last 2 years we've renovated 2 bathrooms, built a deck, expanded our garage, and renovated our kitchen. Thank goodness we only used KitchenSync for our kitchen cabinets and countertops; without question using their services is our biggest regret. To be sure, none of our complaints are about back-ordered materials, supply chain delays, etc. They're specifically about the services provided by Jeffrey (in the Berkeley location) and Gary (at this location). My wife and I were forced to play project managers as Gary and Jeffrey simply do not have the competence to do what is expected of them. We paid ~$36k for our cabinets and counter tops and the service we received from Ikea for our $800 laundry room and garage update was better. This experience has been nothing but miserable. Below are some of the key issues: - They had miscalculated multiple measurements, thus leaving us with gaps throughout our kitchen that we and our contractors weren't expecting. Our contractors were exceptional so they found creative ways to make things work, but KitchenSync's original planning was unfortunately very sloppy and ultimately we had to pay extra for their mistakes. And once we brought it up instead of helping they simply said they did their part and were baffled at the mistakes. - Upon initial delivery, we were missing 1 cabinet, 2 cabinet fronts were the wrong sizes, and 4 doors were completely the wrong type. Some of the replacements took 3 weeks to arrive, and others 2+ months. And one of the cabinet fronts replacements was the exact size as the original - as in we got the same wrong sized cabinet front TWICE. And they did not provide enough toe kick so we needed to follow up on that as well. Rather than diving in to fix the problem they first blamed the cabinet maker, then the deliver people, and only once I gave specific direction did they take action. Simply put it was very odd. - We had a handful of back-ordered materials, which is fine, but in order to coordinate with our contractors we simply needed to know approximately when they would be arriving. We only received updates when we initiated the conversation - it was never proactive - and the responses were always very sloppy and confusing. We would get 3 emails about the same cabinet, back to back to back, all with different bits of information. They didn't seem to proof read emails, just write them as fast as they could then hit send. Now imagine getting multiple emails, for 5 different cabinets, each with different arrival dates and other bits of information, all at once. We were forced to decode these communications and keep them all in our own spreadsheet. After the first dozen mistakes I realized KitchenSync would cause extreme delays, so I called Gary to provide feedback and talk about what we can do to get us across the finish line. Rather than trying to help better prepare for next steps, he gave me a finger pointing, out of the box excuse about supply chain this and that. He didn't listen to a word I said, he just played defense and didn't care that I was a customer with an incomplete and overdue project begging for help. So here we are today - Our contractors have been done for about 4 weeks now, but we're still waiting for KitchenSync to execute their part of the deal. Even after begging them we still rarely receive proactive updates, and we're still stuck piecing together shotgun blasts of emails. This has been miserable, but at this point we're stuck with our decision. We're so excited to erase this from our memory and never have to speak to or email with anyone at KitchenSync ever again."
"We worked with Gary at Kitchensync for our kitchen remodel! First off Gary was such a pleasure to work with. My dad was our General Contractor and he also had a wonderful experience working with Gary. Gary had wonderful ideas, helped with the layout and helped us visualize the design with his renderings. Everything came out better than we could have imagined. Gary was responsive, answered all of our questions and called us back quickly when we had more questions (I always had questions). He also came to our house several times to either help with measurements, help answer assembly questions for my dad or drop off items to help in our installation process. We also ordered all our hardware and countertops from Gary. The countertop fabricator he uses is also wonderful!! We got several cabinet and countertop estimates and we found Gary’s prices to be extremely fair, the cabinet and countertop quality to be solid and his customer service exceptional. We would recommend him to all of our friends and family!"
