"Our oldest has been at Baldwin from Parakeets (1 Year Olds) to Big Nest (4 year olds) and will soon graduate to kindergarten. Our youngest started in Bluebirds and is currently in Parakeets. You can truly see how much the kids enjoy their teachers and classrooms. We were impressed by the amount of space that each grade level gets to themselves and the fact that they each get their own separate playgrounds so that the big kids don't overrun the little ones. While some teachers are better than others with updating photos (private classroom Instagram accounts) and providing feedback, overall the atmosphere is very caring and well rounded. Our boys have loved all the teachers that they've had. I feel my kids have gotten a well rounded experience that has been both educational and fun."
"Our kids attended Baldwin for 8 years and it felt like a second home for all of us. All of the teachers were great and made us feel like family. The management is very involved and responsive to any questions or concerns. Our kids learned so much and were both very ready for kindergarten after attending Baldwin. We recommend this daycare to everyone and miss being a part of such a great family community."
"My child went to this school for a short period of time. After comparing it to Gillispie or The Children's School in La Jolla, it is like night and day. Do yourself and favor and check out those other schools instead. They have real playgrounds and your child can continue on through elementary school with all their friends. What is even more disturbing is the location of the school. There is homeless and the smell of pot smoke everywhere. I am not against Marijuana but I don't want my child exposed to it. I Googled it and found more information. The owner even wrote a declaration in a court filing saying that he continued to smell marijuana smoke in the playground. PB is a party area and the homeless using drugs makes it even worse. The owner even said in his declaration that he caught a homeless person sleeping on the property. I don't want my child getting some disease like Hep A! The homeless are a huge problem in the alley behind the school. The church down the street is giving away free meals. They smoke crack, use crystal meth and marijuana. These items could easily be thrown over the small fence into the playground and a child could get it. If you take a tour of the school, make sure you walk down the alley behind the school to see what I am talking about. The homeless are everywhere!"
"My son went there for two years and we loved it! He had amazing teachers ( Ms. Amy and Mr. Charles ) who just took the time to not only teach my son numbers and letter but teach him how he kind and respectful. The staff was amazing !!!!!"
"My daughter attended Baldwin Academy for almost two years. She started in what they call "canaries" as an early two year old. We loved this class- the teachers always wrote ouch reports, communicated and talked with me if their was issues. We attended certain events such as back to school night and other festivities. Then my daughter turned three years old- she got a little bit more of a handful for Baldwin. She was in the Robins classroom: I didn't receive ouch reports (she came home with bruises and cuts) with no explanation- I talked to Darla the school director numerous times about the staff not communicating with me about what happened in the classroom. I tried to reach out to staff in school hours and via email- still no communication with me. Any parent would be concerned to pick up/drop off and not hear anything about what is going on with your child when YOU are the only parent picking up/dropping off. Staff called my daughter emotional because she would throw fits and not listen to them. Staff would isolate my child and send her to Darla's office so much that she would get sent home (this happened TWICE). I gave my MONTH notice as requested by Baldwin and the week before their "summer" break Darla says my daughter can't go to school there anymore because I was telling a parent about the issues. SO concerned about the school's horrible reputation and not my child or the caring for her AS IS HER JOB. The school is outdated. No real outside slides for older kids just baby toys. The sandbox has had fleas numerous times. One day my daughter came home with sand in her shoes and there were fleas in the shoe- we have NO pets! Staff loses items and still after being kicked out my original item that was lost was not found. School always has outrageous pricing and it goes up every year you pay $200 to reenroll your kid that has been there for a year plus the tuition which is about $1,300! I would highly recommend not going to this school."
