"My spouse and I have stayed here twice. Both times we've been greeted kindly by hotel staff as we check in, found the rooms to be clean and comfortable, and enjoyed the full breakfast provided. It's also conveniently located next to Old Sacramento and it's an easy walk down the river trail to get there. This will be our regular spot when we visit Sacramento."
"Location a little scary, but close to the freeway. Shower pressure very bad, the bed - I have 2 queens bed , one was broken, every time I was moving the bed was making weird sound. Refrigerator making weird sound too. Breakfast… ??? It starts at 6:30 am if I believe we were told, went at 7 am and no food was out at all.. people who went at 6:30 am ,got cup of coffee that’s all and everyone was waiting for food. We ended up leaving with out breakfast! I will never stay at this location! We stayed in Washougal, WA , have only great reviews for them! The Sacramento needs training from Washougal , WA .maybe will get more business."
"The rooms were very clean. There were plenty of towels. The little outside area was a nice touch and the continental breakfast was the best anywhere! Really nice stay!"
"Typically, Best Westerns have a good to great standard for rooms accommodations, comfortable beds and atmosphere. The Sand Hotel was a disappointment in all regards and I would not recommend staying here. Issue 1# I booked (4 months in advance) a room with 2 queen beds for myself, husband, and two of our friends for a overnight stay in Sacramento to see a show. The room we were given had a double bed and king size bed (which was awkward), and there were no other options. Issue 2# In addition, we booked here partially because we wanted to be able to use the hot tube, but upon arrival we were told it was closed until next summer, but there was no indication this part of the facility was out of use in any of the confirmation emails. It would have been a nice courtesy to have a notification in the emails to know that the pool and hot tube were out of service, as we would have probably booked somewhere else. Issue 3# The room wasn't terribly clean, the floors were dirty, there were holes in the walls and ceilings (I think from old pictures or hooks... not really sure but they were large). I would have hoped a Best Western would have taken the small amount of time to cover those up. Also, there was a very unwelcoming sign in the room that stated if we stole pillows, towels...etc what we would be charged for each item. Now I understand stealing is a problem for hotels, but it made an incredibly unwelcoming impression. It's written in the agreement about being charged for taking items everyone signs, so why put up a sign? Issue 4# The outdoor atmosphere is terrible here. There are loads of trash around the outside entrance area near check in and there were several transits hanging about. It felt quite sketchy and like you better keep valuables on you at all times. Not pleasant, not welcoming, not ever going back. Issue 5# Bed were incredibly hard and uncomfortable. There was only one extra blanket in the room (with two beds, so not enough to go around). I slept in a sweater and wool pants and still was cold. Issue 6# The shower had no water pressure and only had a hand held shower nozzle, so it was difficult to use. Also, the shower didn't have a proper drain or siding, so water got all over the floor and I had to use several of the hand towels to clean up the mess. Issue 7# The walls are SO thin!! There were people talking in the next room and we could hear almost every word. Plus, they were walking around in highheels late into the night and between the clumping and the talking, it was so loud that they woke me up a few times. Upon checking out, the receptionist didn't bother to ask how the stay was, but simply took the room keys and said have a nice day, which I guess is the bare minimum one can expect. Generally, I have found better rooms and service from Best Westerns in the past but apparent standards have greatly dropped and I won't be staying at another Best Western again."
"Quiet comfortable rooms. Remodel was a little sloppy showing the age of this location. Free breakfast was great, just show up on time as it goes quick. Also the beds slide easily on the laminated room floors which is annoying if you're sitting up and reading with the bed frame moving constantly."
