"Pretty great park and had a great time fishing with the pups sitting next to me. Hot Memphis day and the doggos like to take an occasional dip in the water to cool off. Did not expect the electric eels! I find it irresponsible that the city doesn't put up some kind of signs warning people. My poor dachshund could have been killed by that thing. Overall it was a lovely park though and, aside from the electric eels, the fishing was great!"
"Over the Labor Day weekend I decided to take my teacup Chihuahua, Chipotle, on a walk to the fish pond. We decided to dip our toes in the water since it was a sweltering summer evening. As we were cooling off and enjoying the sunset, my poor Chipotle was snatched by an electric eel! I watched in misery of my darling pup was malled by this creature. I’m up in arms as to WHY there was NO SIGNAGE??? Please erect signage so no one else has to suffer through this agony."
"I was in awe at the beauty of Grove Park Fish Pond until a school of electric eels violently attacked my significant other. Giving it 5 stars because the sunset was beautiful. Someone really needs to put up some signs or something warning people about the eels. I didn't even know we had eels in Tennessee."
"My family and I went to “Fish Pond” fish pond recently to get away from the troubles of the world and were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful setting, excellent signage and opportunity to interact with native wildlife. My youngest daughter is just learning to read and I’m thankful her class recently had a lesson on aquatic sea life for her to identify the difference between electric eels and non-electric eels. We saw the quality government issued signage, but naively it only made us more curious. Be careful and have fun - 5 stars - we can’t wait to go back!"
"I went to Park Grove Pond to enjoy some quality time with my dog. We have been visiting Park Grove Pond for years. A few weeks back we were visiting and noticed the new signage warning of electric eels.... I would like to thank the park service for placing this sign and warning me of the danger!!! But my real question is, When will the eels be eradicated from the pond so my dog and I can enjoy our quality time playing fetch again?"
