"I took in my 2001 Subaru Forester that spent 20 years on salt roads in the Northeast. While the three catalytic converters were salvageable, the exhaust pipe and muffler were destroyed by the road salt and the car was LOUD.. He fabricated a new car length exhaust pipe with several bends, replaced another 12" section forward of a converter, and replaced the muffler. The car is now almost dead silent.
