"They are excellent about informing you of refills or shipments. However, they make you pay upfront for home IV infusions and the medicine is a life or death medical necessity. Those like us on fixed incomes don’t upwards of $1000.00 dollars laying around. So as I realized after viewing my explanation of benefits from my insurance company, my part of each infusions was either $7 and $12 each day. So I called my insurance company and they made a call to Continuum with me on 3 way. That’s when I found out that they made me pay that large sum (which I had to borrow) up front before even filing my insurance. Continuum said they will reimburse me for anything I paid over, but they obviously estimate your part substantially to make sure they get their money… no matter what situation it puts the patient in. A patient should never have to pay more than their actual part of treatment. My insurance said that wasn’t normal policy and she hasn’t experienced this type of practice from other pharmacies before. She stressed for me to keep that in mind when choosing a pharmacy in the future if I needed long term picc line meds. All they had to do was bill me for my part, each time they got my insurance claim money. That would have made this whole thing much easier on my family and finances. Oh! And…the customer service rep at Continuum would not let me or the my insurance lady get a word in. If you got a chance to talk, she would butt in or talk over us. At one point, I literally said, “MAY I SPEAK?” The ruder she became, the more I thanked her time. After she quite bluntly asked if we were through with her, I told her yes and wished her a Merry Christmas. So now, I wait on my much needed refund that will not arrive until AFTER the Holidays. Note: I have had 3 other picc line infusions through them in the recent past; had a good rapport and communication, and was never asked for any upfront estimated payout! Hopefully, anyone else will not have to experience this. Especially when your funds are so limited."
