"I will never forget him. I was 15 years old, only had sex 1 time which I told him and he didn't believe me-his tone and mannerism showed it. I had started menstruating at 9 years old and had always had terrible cramps. I was given his name by a classmate who was... not virginal. I go in and he examines me and gave me an ultrasound from the top of my stomach. Back then he only had the metal speculas in different sizes. I saw all the sizes in the drawer and see him get the biggest one possible. It was sooo painful as he examined me. He scraped the hell out of my wall, so hard my period started early. Just because I am fat doesn't mean my cervix is the same. My test came back fine so he flat out suggests that I get a hysterectomy. No birth control options, no further exploration...just don't have kids.Those were my only 2 visits. Over the years I have found out this is very common among gynecologists when it comes to African American women. I am 34 years old and never forgot about that."
