Cedar Hall

"Let me start off by saying the grounds & property is absolutely beautiful but... December 1st Bride here & just be warned. It was one thing after another with this venue. For starters, I went & toured Cedar Hall. Fell in love, booked it. I had a great Day of coordinator assigned to me. She was young, ambitious, full of great ideas. Loved her. Fast forward to our 2 month meeting to go over details, we find out we have been assigned a new day of coordinator (Carol) Carol was very vanilla, she made it clear that this was a part time gig for her and it was very obvious she did not care about anything. Mid way through our meeting, one of the details was I wanted black table toppers for my reception space. She cut me off and informed me that she had an upcoming meeting with another bride and she would have to see if she was going to use them before I could. Why was this bride more important than me? No big deal I brushed it off and told her I'd purchase my own . Paid $250 for them only for them to use their own & kept the ones I bought! But wait... there's more! Fast forward to a week before our wedding. I am assigned ANOTHER day of coordinator. Talk about being past around. So here I am, week of my wedding having to explain for the third time all the details of my wedding. This coordinator was nice but still was not the right person for the job. This place is EXTREMELY picky for the price tag. You can not have a dance floor of any kind, no flameless sparkles. I had to beg just to have confetti poppers & it was only approved after they told us to bring a vaccum to clean it up after. We had a 1920s gastby themed wedding. I purchased plastic champange flutes for a champange tower photo with my groom. Day of coordinator informed me the night before the wedding that they won't use them because they don't hold up with liquid in them, which was a total lie considering we tested it prior at home. Their day of rules are extremely ignorant. We purchase 2 extra hrs for a pretty price. The coordinator informed me that I could only arrive to the venue 4 hrs prior to my ceremony. 4hrs is not a lot of time for 5 Bridesmaids, moms & myself for hair & makeup. Most places let you arrive as early as you want. I even asked if I could arrive early due to the inconvenience we had with the coordinator situation and it was denyed. The reason they do this is of course because of money. They want you & the wedding party to stay at the property the night before. Its extremely over priced for an old house. I'll pass. Just made no sense. My vendors could arrive at 9 am but I couldn't until 12:30. Everything after our ceremony everything was extremely rushed and the coordinator definitely could have done a better job spacing things out instead of doing things back to back. We had plenty of time. Moving on to the bar & the food Be forwarned the bartender is the owners son!! We prepaid $1200 for the wedding party to drink on. He constantly tried to charge the wedding party for drinks until I confronted him & the mix up was due to the 18 millon coordinators I had. The food, we selected a pretty extraordinary menu and from the few bites I got to take. The food was pretty good. They did take up food super early, so seconds or even a snack later wasn't an option. We over purchased food & none of it got to go home with us. They also packed the bride and groom a to go plate which was a mega disappointment. Here we are, in our getaway car on the way to the hotel. Naturally, did not eat the whole night. Looking forward to this food only to find out it is none of the amazing food we spent almost 10k on. It was chicken salad & crackers!! Total bummer!! I am not big on reviews at all, but I would definitely not recommend this place. It's a no for me. If I could go back, I definitely would not have selected Cedar or Heartwood for my venue. My ceremony & vendors were amazing. The weather was beautiful. It was still the perfect day because I left with the love of my life as my husband."

"Fabulous venue and staff. Carol was our coordinator and everything went very smoothly. The staff was excellent. We had an outside wedding with a social hour in the English garden before the wedding with drinks and hours d'oeuvres. My only suggestion would be to bring flowers to put around the English garden if their flowers are not in bloom. I was surprised that there were not some annuals planted around the garden to make it prettier for spring weddings. There was only one lilly in bloom by the house. You can bring arrangements to put on the high top tables in the garden. This situation will be different with the seasons. Other than that we were so happy with the wedding, reception, food and drinks at this venue. I would highly recommend!"

"This is the most beautiful place to have a wedding. The scenery is breathtaking. The only complaint is the food wasn't real good BUT it is still a 5 star experience"

"At Cedar Hall's Ivy Tea Room for a luncheon today - which is always fun. As a celiac, I can't have gluten-containing food but they always accommodate me adequately - although I think they could work a bit harder on the gf dessert options as the sorbet is fine but gets a little old if you go to the Tea Room more than once in a while. The setting is the best thing about it though. Grounds are lovely, and the house itself has dining rooms that make me feel like I'm in my grandmother's day - high ceilings, antiques, and art from another era. It is worth the drive to Bartlett!"

"They provided us with the best wedding experience we could have ever hoped for. The venue is beautiful and the service is amazing. Our day of coordinator was a life saver and incredibly helpful with things we did not think about. They had umbrellas for our guests when it rained and I never heard a single person complain. The reception hall was beautiful and the food was unbelievable. Honestly the food may have been my favorite experience from my wedding. I recommend this venue to everyone I know looking to get married."
