"I walked in after work (nurse) intending on purchasing a birthday present for my wife. What started out as a great experience with an employee turned shockingly bad after meeting the store manager. He seemed nice at first but then made an initial comment about how he has friends with similar names and that our names were "all the same thing right?" I said "No, those names are different" I thought, okay stupid brown ppl joke.. whatever.. He talked about the store for a few mins and I told him what I was looking for and that it would be a present for my wife. It's at this point, he proceeds to repeatedly make a joke about my wife being a 16-year-old. You read that right. He starts by specifically asked me "what's the occasion? Sweet 16?" and laughs. Initially, I was caught off guard and let him she close to my age (she's almost 30). It was awkward and even the nice lady helping me earlier started slowing drifting away. I changed the subject to talking about my what I was looking for and my price range. Unfortunately, he brings up the joke two more times during our conversation and then eventually lands on "Hey I was close right? 16 and 26? I said "No, you were not close. Shes older than that and you were wrong". He laughs even though I was being serious. I give him a look to let him know I was upset. He started talking about something unrelated at that point, but I cut him off and told him "Look I'm just going to take a look around" and then left the store. So, at this point, you're either calling me a ped0phi|e or you're playing into racist stereotypes about middle eastern people. He definitely knew I was upset but he didn't bother apologizing or explain himself. This was the most ridiculous interaction I've had in a long time. Not only will I take my business elsewhere, but I'll also make sure to tell everyone I know about this negative experience."
