Reviews
"We were there for a special event. The facilities were nice, clean and comfortable."
"This place is never open. The last time I saw this place actually open was 20 years ago when it was on Beale. It was a very cool place to check out. Now they list hours as open but seemingly never are. I used to work in that building. Never saw them open. Randomly went there to check it out and it was never randomly open when I went to visit. Drive an hour, pay to park, walk through crime village just to find businesses closed. Downtown is LAME and dangerous. When you have a 1 in 20 chance of being robbed or murdered in broad daylight, and you only see 15 other people, and half of them are derelicts, you are at high risk of being the next victim of violent crime in downtown Memphis. Some dude tried to rob Walt downtown but Walt talked his way out of being robbed. As the robber was leaving, the robber told Walt, "OK! Be safe out here!" I absolutely encourage everyone to AVOID MEMPHIS and especially downtown. WELCOME TO ONE STAR MEMPHIS."
"I was there today, Friday, at 11:20am during their posted hours. Gate completely shut. So ya. They SUCK"
"Great eclectic place with so much art, music, and historical information. Many unusual and hard to find CDs and outsider artists. The owner is so knowledgeable and had great stories and insight on Memphis and beyond. The Center for Southern Folklore is in the same building as the Belz Museum at the end of the wide hallway."
"Some of the friendliest and most helpful store-owners I have ever met. They love Memphis culture and are dedicated to preserving and sharing it. Worth a visit!"
