"We had such a horrible experience on Saturday night. Theres a serious manager issue for this place, which makes the dining experience overall horrible, and stressing out all the workers there. People are going to be upset at someone, and obviously thats going to be the people they have to interact with. When none of the issues had to do with the staff, everyone was just overwhelmed. First of all, they're understaffed on a Saturday night, our poor waiter was the only waiter for a huge section, he was rushing around the whole time we were there, things kept coming out wrong, but how could he keep that many orders straight?! (Our waiters name was Troy, he was so sweet and was doing his absolute best in this chaotic mess, he didn't show one ounce of frustration or annoyance, i applaud him for that!) Second of all, if they did realize they were going to be understaffed on a weekend night, why are they going to keep both buildings open for business and keep sending people from the main building to the side building, causing an overwhelming situation for EVERYONE. We ended up waiting over 2 hours, after being told at the main building it would be an hour wait, but sending us to their second building, being told we would be seated faster. But after we got sent to the other side , it seemed like they were sending everyone over to their other building, the hostess's were extremely overwhelmed, kept getting yelled at for a situation they werent even causing, which again comes down to management for treating their workers like that. If you do decide to dine here, go in with compassionate hearts for those who are trying their best, and go after the people who are making the choices the employees are having to follow! Also something was seriously up with their drink machine, and tasted nasty. Other than that food was good, typical Gen food."
"Not sure if I will return. The food was good, the place looks nice, but the wait time was ridiculously long. Allow me to elaborate. I arrived at 5pn and I was told that my wait time was approximately 1 hour long. I decided to wait because I figured it would be less, since this is typically the case. I waited for an hour before I received a text message stating that my table would be ready within 15-30 minutes. Once again, I waited, since it was very busy. However, while waiting I noticed that bigger parties were being called before me. Didn't question it since I figured that they were probably waiting before me and I didn't notice them. After almost 2hours, i decided to speak up because they kept telling me that my party was next and it was coming up. However, my name was not being called. My fiance and I were very upset because it was 7:15pm and we were still waiting. After 4 times of asking what my wait time was, I decided to be direct and ask for a Manger because it was crazy that I was not seated after waiting 2 hours and I saw that only bigger parties were being seated. Not sure how much more longer i would have waited if I didn't speak up. It is sad that it got to this point. The sad part is that i was not the only one that waited this long. It appears that they prefer to service bigger parties and not smaller parties. It should not be like this, when each customer will pay. I hope the change their customer service in regard to attending party size. Each customer deserves the same to equal service!"
"My girlfriend and I used to come to Gen's often, we went for the first time in 4 years last night. Wow, it is not the experience we remember. The Mrs. claims it is our worst dining experience ever (I would put it maybe second or third). It was a Friday night, around 20:50, so of course we expected it to be busy and we were fine with waiting. So we check in at the main location and wait the 30 minutes outside of the building, everything seemed well handled there. However, when we were summoned inside, we were instructed to go to the new secondary building just down the way. Now the scene there is definitely not completely the fault of the staff... but it was chaos. It was the complete opposite to the main building. The staff did not appear to completely know what was going on. Long story short, we had to wait almost another hour. Which again, we understand that it was a Friday and sometimes it gets like that. However, we continued to be disappointed once we were seated. The hostess seated us and didn't say anything, then a few minutes later a server appeared and asked us what we wanted. He hurriedly put an order for some recommended items and two waters, as we requested, then said he would be back. We were brought a few small sides and then that is all we heard for maybe around 10 minutes. Then finally some meat comes to us. Though we have not been given plates, tongs, utensils, or anything that we need to start. We got the attention of another server, because ours was nowhere to be found, who brought us some plates and tongs (they all acted like it was an extreme burden). Here's the thing, by this point it was after 10pm and the place was beginning to die down, yet we still were not be attended to in the slightest. We waited another 10 minutes before we saw our waiter again and had to ask him for our waters. We put in for meats at this time because we did not know when we would see him again. On several occasions we asked for items that we never got, such as two plates of meat and sides, such as kimchi. It was 11pm and we had only had one round of meat and seen our waiter maybe twice... we had been seated for an hour. We ordered one more round of meat and also asked for some more sides. We asked about them a few times, though we never got them, instead our waiter was laughing and talking with his co-workers. Look I completely understand how it gets, I used to work food service, but at this point we wanted to just eat the stuff we ordered and leave. We never got the sides. So we just ate our last plate of meat and finally got his attention for the cheque. 5 mins later he came to take it, there is very few people here at this point, it is half empty and they are about to close. I watched him take it behind the counter, leave it with someone, then proceed to go to the other side of the restaurant to go and talk to his friends. We waited over 10 mins just for our card back, it was 23:35 at this point, past their closing time. The weirdest thing is that we tried to make conversation with him, saying that tonight was a really busy night, and he tells us "no this is not even really busy tonight, this is quite calm", yet we did not get half of our orders and were never checked on, we had to grab the attention of servers every time. I like to give food service staff the benefit of the doubt and I usually do not think much of it (like I said, I used to work food service). However, this was a very very negative experience and I do not think we will ever come back to Gen's. Red Palace is around the corner and I think we would've avoided a lot of these problems if we had eaten there. We spent over 3 hours at Gen's where we could've spent half of the time elsewhere. I would recommend avoiding Gen's in favour of somewhere else."

"Meats are yummy, sides are alright. Wouldn’t really touch the appetizers. Service on the other hand is awful. They need to hire more servers though. I’ve been here twice and each time I’ve been so dissatisfied and disappointed with the service. They have servers running around so much that they’ll barely have any time to check up on you or wait a few seconds for your reply. Each time I’ve went, it’s always something wrong. Managers will sometimes walk around and make eye contact with you and see you sitting there with no food for 15+ minutes and not say a word. First visit, it took them ages to bring us our drinks and then took even longer for them to bring us our meats. We would cook and eat our meat and then sit there and wait 10 minutes or so just to grab a waiters attention for another round of meat. We then ordered an appetizer and they never brought it out. Second time visiting, when they brought out our first round of meats, one of them wasn’t the one we ordered. We placed our other meat on the grill and then realized they didn’t leave us tongs, scissors, or even utensils on our table. We waited forever to get ahold of our waiter to even get ahold of those items. My boyfriend loves the steak here and that’s the only reason why we go but honestly, it’s always a headache when we come. It’s not worth it."
