"I stopped in right at opening time to place a large order for a luncheon. They were quick to respond to the request. The packaging for the food to be taken “Togo” was flawless. The food was great. The sashimi deluxe had the largest pieces of fish I have ever seen. If you enjoy Sashimi this is the place for you. They serve it on a bed of rice with a salad. The chicken teriyaki looked great as well that I got with the order. I am totally impressed with the care that was placed in making our dishes perfect! If and when I’m in Lodi again wanting sushi this will be the spot that I will go back to!"
"I've been here previously and had a fairly good experience. Visited to get lunch today and planned on sitting down to eat. Immediately upon walking in, it smelled like cigarettes, to the point it seemed like someone had just been smoking inside. I mentioned the smell to my husband, and he agreed it was too strong. Another customer had walked in shortly after us and noticed it as well and immediately left. Upon mentioning to the waitress how potent the smell was, she simply apologized and walked back into the kitchen. It seemed as if she walked back there to tell whomever was in the back about the complaint and then started laughing as if it wasn't that big of a deal to them. We decided to order to go and eat at home. The food was good, but the smell was too overwhelming to enjoy a sit-down experience."
"The waitress was really nice and polite. It wasn’t bad service but the rolls were falling apart. The food was alright but I feel like I could go somewhere nicer for only 10$ more. Not bad but personally I don’t think I’ll be going back."
"Wheeeewwww child, i used to live in Lodi and this was the first place I ever came to try sushi! I loved this place. I would take all my friends to try. I even had my first date with my husband here. Well I moved to Modesto and haven’t been there since we moved( we even brought sushi back from here to our new apartment) that’s how much we loved this place. Well we recently celebrated our 12 year anniversary and he brought me back here. Let’s just say my chicken had a foul smell! I took a small nibble to see if I was tripping! And yes it was gross! Never in my whole 34 years on earth have I tried something so foul! The sushi roll was pretty but the tempura was over cooked! The rice was mushy and just everything on our plates was gross! I gave it 2 for the waitress she was kind but the lady that took our order is rude. I will never be back or recommend anybody to go im pretty sure that chicken was spoiled. I’m sorry to give this place a bad review I really loved coming here."
"Saw the reviews on Google and have heard some good things from a family member about Matsuyama. Upon dining here I was disappointed. The bathrooms were not clean at all, which should have been a sign as to how the rest of the experience would go. The food was bland, service ok and the price a but too high for lunch. What really made the experience was when I ate the shrimp ate the end of the meal and noticed it was not even deveined. This was after I had already taken a bite and thought it tasted funny. For a lunch that cost my husband and I $55, I would expect that the shrimp would be cleaned and edible. Grossed out and disappointed. Needless to say we will not be going back to Matsuyama."
