"We came for breakfast first thing in the morning and love the food. The cinnamon roll and spinach and mushroom quiche are both on point. The service is but a little slow when they first opened. We asked for a refill of coffee and it never happened. My wife had to get up and get the carafe off of a table that a waiter had left to fill her cup. We sat there for such a long time, waiting for someone to come over to take our order. As a matter of fact, the table beside us had checked out, and then another table was sat, and they had their order taken before we were even acknowledged. We had to ask a bus boy to ask our waitress to bring us our check. When she did bring us the check, she sat there and tapped her finger on the credit card machine waiting for us to fill out the tip and signature. This is the second time that we’ve had bad service. We honestly thought the last time we went there was a one off as far as service was concerned, but since we had bad service again today, we won’t be back. It’s a shame because the food is amazing and the restaurant has been there since the 1940s. It has a great vibe so it’s a shame that the service doesn’t align with expectations."
"This place is a hidden gem! The menu is fantastic. I had the house-made corned beef hash that’s brined for hours and served with, potatoes, eggs and coffee cake as toast option - delish! The freshly squeezed juice so good. I also had the Mexican chocolate espresso coffee and a mimosa. Their bakes goods are incredible - got a peanut butter chocolate brownie to go. Did I mention bottomless mimosas for $18? A must try for brunch!"
"Had breakfast here after flying into San Diego. Good choice. Great atmosphere and a friendly staff. We wanted mimosas and they had a bottomless option. The food was good and we would definitely come back."
"I'm sad to downgrade my review. I went back tonight because I wanted to take my visiting mom there to get the pork chops there that I always loved... the service was not what it used to be.. the waiter did not listen, walked away assuming wrong details, did not make eye contact, I had to call him back to tell him my mother wanted mashed potatoes because he walked away without asking. Then, the pork chops were not full pork chops but were quite thin... nothing like they used to serve. Perhaps because I had expectations based on past excellent food and service service, I was more disappointed. It was not at all the good pleasant service I had come to look forward to in my dining experience. My prior review..,."So happy that Hob Nob Hill has reopened! I had the prime rib special tonight!". with five stars across..."
"We came for brunch and left disappointed with the food. Ordered the prime rib omelette which ended up being mostly egg instead of decent amount of prime rib like I expected. The taste of everything was pretty bland including the potatoes. My friend ordered the loco moco and said it was unseasoned, he ended up needing to add salt and pepper just for it to taste somewhat decent. Typically when you order the dish there’s onions and mushrooms to make it more rich and flavorful. There was also an egg shell on his eggs. We also waited 45 minutes to receive our food and had to ask for refills on our water. They also put garlic butter on the waffles which is pretty gross. Would not recommend."
