"My experience was not good. I ordered a catfish dinner,. The pieces of fish were smaller than your finger and it was burnt. The hush puppies were burnt and hard. The red beans were dry and looked old. In my turkey cop dinner I received a half of a chop cut into two pieces. The cold food was put in the same bag as the hot. The fish was put on a paper try into a bag with no cover. When I asked for the fish to be covered the owner refused raising his voice stating it would make the fish soft. and, he would never put hot and cold in the same bag. This is the quality of food he is serving to two seniors in in their late 80s. And my father who is a veteran who served in the US Air Force and US Army. His prices are too high for this type of service , amount and quality of food. The owner that he to is a veteran."
"I ordered two plates. On one plate I got catfish eggs grits and sourdough bread. Everything on the plate was good except the grits they were hard and I can tell they were not creamy when they were put into the box. The grits were a 2 out of 10. I also got the smothered pork chops on top of rice with gravy which was extremely good. I also had two sides.... Greens and black eyed peas. Very good as well. I paid $8.50 for a hot link that was cut in half that I will not talk about. I will be posting pictures of everything except that hotlink."
"The food wasn’t as flavorful as I expected. The grits were less than mid and the red snapper was over cooked and it was tough to eat."
"I rarely ever write reviews, however this restuarant was so spectacular that I made an exception. This morning, on New Years day, I was looking for a good soul food place around the Pomona area that would knock my socks off and start off my New Years right. Not only were my socks knocked off, but so were my shoes. My family and I were immediately greeted with good hospitality and a comfortable environment. There are beautiful jazz paintings all around the restuarant. Our server was very nice and made sure to always accommodate us. We had the seafood gumbo, big ben’s bacon omellete with waffles and potatoes, slim da monsta, and joe joes combo with mac and cheese and black eyed peas. All The food took about 20 minutes to come and were all very fresh and hot and the portions were plentiful. First off, the seafood gumbo was immensely flavorful and tasted so fresh . The King crab and lobster added an amazing flavor bomb. 10/10 recommend. Next, big bens bacon omellete was a great classic, however the star of the show was really the side potatoes. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned, perfectly textured, and just exquisite. If you were to get one side for breakfast, I would recommend the potatoes. The waffles were also perfectly sweet, fluffy, and delicious and the syrup was hot and delectable. Slim da monsta wings were crispy and seasoned. Joe Joes combo was a dish that truly blew me away. It was the most tender and flavorful gravy oxtail over rice and exceeded my expectations. The black eyed peas on the side were good, but I’d say was a bit more on the salty side. The baked mac and cheese was amazing, classic, flavorful and had a nice texture. Overall I highly recommend coming to this place, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you chef!"
