"I went in for a cut and color today and left very upset after dealing with an argumentative instructor. My hair is blonde and I wanted to go back to my natural medium brown hair, but I wanted a cool tone rather than a warm undertone. The instructor started to explain color theory, which I already have some understanding of after coloring my hair for at least 17 years now. She said she would put blue tones in my hair but that lightener would show through since my hair was bleached in the last six months. The color bottle came out and I made note of how it's a little darker than expected. She said that's how it would be because we are going back to natural so we have to let the darker color sit on it for a few days. Okay, sure. It's now really dark. Then the student offered to give me a trim to which I agreed, just to please not leave me with a blunt straight cut (I prefer not to look like a 5 year old with a fresh cut). It ended up this way and I nicely asked the student to chop it up some so it wouldn't be so straight and blunt. The instructor came by to look and walked away saying "It's rounded" and grabbed a mirror to show me. I told her I just didn't want it to be so straight and blunt of a cut and she told me that's just how fresh cuts look. Not always and I've never had a stylist be upset with me for asking to fix that (I now know to ask for a point cut). I ended up leaving and now will either attempt to fix it myself or find somewhere that won't be rude. I don't know why she seemed to choose violence today, but I will not be back."
