"So serene... This is one of the three forest preserves by my home, and the most underrated one. When I feel for a quiet walk, without running into a whole lot of people, I go there. My dog comes across as aggressive, and even if he wouldn't hurt anybody he still makes people nervous, so this park makes for a pleasant walk for us both."
"Snow-covered trails. I had 5 miles of trails all to myself. One coyote and hundreds of Canada geese were my only companions at 8AM on a Sunday morning."
"Nice park, lots of walking trails, and some cool lookouts."
"This forest preserve consists of two sections (east and west) that do not connect. The east section (off rt. 45) is larger and has lake access. I actually prefer the west section (off rt. 173) for walking/hiking due to the trail design being a bit better in my opinion. However, the small woodland trail in the west section is really nice and the tree cover provides a nice break from the sun."
"Excellent walking trail! Very nice equestrian trails and horse trailer parking. Part of the site has lots of mature trees, I'd say half. Beautiful trees! The rest of the trail is more like prairie, but also very nice. If you're walking a dog in summer be mindful of that. Timber Lake is beautiful and there are two fishing docks. The water near the docks is no more than 3-4 feet deep and some areas have a fair amount of lily pad cover. Struck me as a place that might be good if you're fishing with something weedless. Top water lures would probably be good, too. Panfishing is likely pretty good. Besides the main walking trail and the equestrian trails there is an outstanding woodland walking trail. Nice parking lot and primitive toilet with hand pump for water. Very clean, located on Hwy 45 just south of IL Rte. 173."
