"Wanted to do it, but the ~7 mile drive each way on a really rough gravel road was a no-go in our jetta. It was a lot worse than hot springs road, so we turned around."

"The drive is rough on an ordinary car. You need to go slow like under 10 mph. Also, we hiked the last 1/2 mile as the road conditions was really rough in one spot. The hike itself is well worth it. Nice little scramble up to Balanced Rock."

"The drive wasn’t the best - takes about 40 minutes to get there so that you don’t ruin your car. We have a 4 wheel drive truck and it was still an interesting ride at 15/20mph. The views were okay but i’m not sure it was worth the ride. Definitely recommend Lost Mines and The Window Trail over this."

"easy hike till you get close to balance rock then its a climb up to it at least 80ft, some scrambling. mostly shaded late evening."

"Big Bend is a fantastic park and the Grapevine Hills Trail is one of the best reward/effort hikes in the park. I would rate the trail difficulty moderate. The trail goes through some unique volcanic rock formations and ends at Balanced Rock - a boulder suspended in the air between two groups of rocks. The view looking out past Balanced Rock is absolutely spectacular."
