"Highly recommended and scenic - there is a moderate amount of climbing up the paved switchbacks but otherwise a pretty easy hike..! You won't need AllTrails but to get up onto the bank - make a right at the canyon mouth, then cross over the stone 'bridge' andf up the bank.. then walk back along the elevated bank to the paved switchbacks."
"This place was one of the best highlights! There is ample parking and restrooms which were not super clean. Cross the rio on the right side of the canyon and there is a little steep set of steps to get the trail that runs along the canyon. The right side is the USA and the left is Mexico."
"It’s incredible that such a geographic marvel is located is located in Texas. It’s crazy seeing the canyon from a distance as your driving and up close. My thoughts on the trail: I personally didn’t cross the river to access the hike but instead went down the side and scaled it up (there’s a makeshift trails that is created by the people who’s done it the past) , although you will need a some good shoes. It was easier, less messier than getting wet and muddy, for me. The trail is pretty all throughout. Please be respectful and not scream (lots of echoes ) and enjoy the serenity and tranquil environment"
"The beginning of the trail leads you to the river. You walk up the river a bit and cross where there wasn't any water (we traveled when the water was quite low). Once you cross, you'll need to climb up a cliff area to access the trail that'll lead you to the stairs and lookout. If you continue on the trail, it'll wind through the canyon, and you'll arrive at a really beautiful spot to admire the sheer size of the canyons walls around you. This trail offers a lot for many levels of hikers' abilities. You can still enjoy the canyon without climbing to the lookout. The views are amazing!"
