"My first impression of Linda Z’s was through a most gracious employee by the name of Lynn. I told her about what I was looking to learn and she laid out a course plan. Excited was an understatement. So, I took the Basic Machine Training (BMT) class last Friday for a total of $60 and I didn’t think that was bad. However, now, I think that I overpaid. I didn’t buy my machine there so there was a $35 fee for that then another $25 for materials of which I used three items. Betsy was my instructor. She’s been sewing for over twenty years, yeah! Well after the class of six to seven women introduced ourselves, Betsy began class. We were in an open space with shoppers and employees. My issue came when two employees took phone calls directly behind me without regard to any of us in the class. On the third call and while Betsy was speaking, I raised my hand and asked if things would continue in this manner. They were unapologetically, loud and learning to navigate a delicate and intricate piece of equipment was already overwhelming. Then to have this cacophony of banter competing with Betsy was a bit much. Other students agreed verbally and/or with non-verbal cues. Well. This ruffled Betsy’s feathers because the rest of the class her behavior changed towards me. One of the biggest insults was when she cut my thread connected to my bobbin. She came dangerously close to my face with scissors so much so that it even startled another student. This is my main reason for this review. She also was quite careless when she took the tape off of my new machine and was very curt when she answered any question that I had thereafter. I thought more of this place and if I decide to return, I hope that it’s a better experience than the one I had in the BMT class as it is a beautiful place for creative expression and inspiration."
"I highly recommend! The absolute best of sewing centers in the Midwest! Incredible range of machines whether sewing, serger, embroidery. Broad manufacturers, Bernina, Brother, Janome, Singer, Juki, Babylock. A Super knowledgeable staff for very level from beginner to professional. They provide an array of classes, special events, beautiful fabrics, supplies to create garments, quilts, home decor accessories."
"The most amazing thing just happened! I got outstanding service and when I tried to tip to show my appreciation, it was refused! I bought my machine from Linda Z’s back in 2012 and for the first time in 11 years needed to bring it in to be serviced. The embroidery unit was working fine one minute and then it wasn’t. Lynn (not Linda!) spent over an hour with me and figured out the issue. She knew I came a long way (1.25 hrs) and was trying to avoid me having to make another trip and wait 3 weeks for it to be repaired. I am so grateful for her help and patience. Please patronize this business - they truly understand the concept of surpassing expectations."
"I purchased a six needle machine on ebay which came damaged. Stupidly took it to a store in Milwaukee. That company had it for 3 1/2 months. When it was returned to me it barely limped along. After a year of toiling along I took the machine to Linda Z's. What a wonderful experience. They completely overhauled the unit quickly and efficiently. Everything works on it. They repaired the thread cutter, automatic needle threader, realigned the needles. I have a brand new machine now. So happy, I will certainly take the time to take it to a place where I know it will be taken care of and that place is "Linda Z's". Thank you all so much."
"I JUST purchased my second machine today and again I was reminded why I go to Linda Z's. #1 Their patient knowledge of their machines. Not only have I been in their store numerous times but they are at every trade-show that I attend and their staff are fun and amazing. And those are some long days! #2 I was not pressured into buying anything other than what I wanted. Of course they make suggestions but it's based on your own skill level. Not a quota or a goal. #3. Service. With my last machine not only did I sign up for the free 'tutorial' classes' but this where I got my machine tune-ups and will again. #4. I've taken classes here and their staff are attentive and patient with all sorts of skill levels. It's about a community of sexists. And Linda Z's makes it fun!"
