Reviews of Bob Wentz Park
"Very beautiful views and scenery. Great place to take beautiful pictures as well. Water shoes definitely recommend and park provides life jackets for both adults and children. Definitely a little deeper than anticipated and might not be too great for the kids to swim. Overall very nice but maybe more for adults due to the depth of the water."
"The water was great, but the restrooms were closed due to plumbing issues and there is no defined walkway to the beach which can be painful on your feet even with shoes. Also, my partner's sibling had their phone stolen from their bag while we were in the water. Be careful if you take your belongings with you, even if you leave them close to you."
"July 2023, you probably already heard that the water level is really low. The entire boat ramp is exposed, along with an additional 5 to 10 minutes of walking if you want to go far out onto the Peninsula (which is usually deep underwater). Honestly this time of year it is not very refreshing, it’s over 100° outside and the water temperature is close to 90°, so it does not cool you off. So one star for the hot temperatures, but five stars for the park itself. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the grounds are expansive and clean. The only downside is on the waters edge people leave so much trash, cans, food, wrappers, even pool floats and tents are left behind. People are pigs. Please clean up after yourself!"
"On our first visit to Austin, we were excited to see Lake Travis up close. We stumbled upon this park while driving and assumed it was the only spot to view the lake. You can swim or float in Lake Travis from this park. There are picnic tables and BBQs. Though the clean water and the beauty of Lake Travis did not disappoint us. However, we were disappointed with our experience at the park. Despite paying a $15 entrance fee per person, the restrooms were unclean and the overall park was messy. I believe that if a park charges for entry, it should be managed more efficiently. Unfortunately, that was not the case here."
"Would like to go back, because this was our first time and not good. There is no defined walkway down to the sand and water area. It was a hike with rocks and grass and very scary. You could not get your things down because there was not an easy trail. We saw people just walking trying to figure out how to get to the sand and water. Frustrated because they were carrying children, food and equipment. The pics show trying to get to the water. If you want to just picnic, the area at the top is nice and you have great lake views. But beware if it's your first time and no one to really direct you. I will go back and just have a nice picnic on the picnic grounds."
