Center for Dewey Studies
About the Business
The Center for Dewey Studies, located at 605 Agriculture Drive in Carbondale, Illinois, is a hub for research, publishing, and archival materials dedicated to the renowned American philosopher and educator John Dewey. The Center has recently renewed its contract with InteLex, publisher of Past Masters, to continue offering electronic editions of Dewey's Collected Works, Correspondence, and Class Lectures at reduced prices, with discounts available for students and scholars from low- and middle-income countries.
One of the Center's latest publications is "The Correspondence of John Dewey, 1858-2011 (Comprehensive Edition)." Visitors to the Center can explore a wealth of resources related to Dewey's life and legacy, as well as participate in events such as the Reading Group, which discusses works by and about Dewey and related topics. The Center also hosts lunchtime talks featuring guest speakers and upcoming workshops, including one on "John Dewey, Race, and Colonialism" in October 2024.
If you're interested in delving into Dewey's philosophy and would like to join the Reading Group or attend an event, be sure to email deweycenter@siu.edu to make arrangements. The Center for Dewey Studies welcomes visitors by appointment and invites all who share an interest in Dewey's ideas to engage with their ongoing research and programming.
