"As a huge fan and supporter of Dr. Dekhtyar it brings me great sorrow to write such a negative review. I originally met him during an inpatient stay at Alexian Brothers in Hoffman Estates. His recommendation for ECT was the best thing to ever happen to me and I’m glad I followed through with it. However, afterwards, I was put on Olanzapine or more commonly known as Zyprexa. He should have been well aware that this causes significant weight gain. I also developed a speech impediment. He took it upon himself to increase the dosage which increased my weight gain. I can’t think of a single individual with depression who is going to feel any better after having gained a significant amount of weight within a short amount of time because of a medication that was supposed to stabilize their mood. Thankfully after having stopped all of his medications I am in a much better place and only take Buspar daily for anxiety and I have lost all the weight that’s gained by that specific medication. The Nurse Practitioner I now see said she can’t think of a single individual who has benefited from Olanzapine/Zyprexa. I really do wish him the best but I will not be returning for services here."
"My son was diagnosed with schizophrenia 4 years ago. We have been with this practice much longer than that. Care was great up until this past year. Dr. Dekhtyar shows up hours late for appointments or NOT AT ALL. He has had the “wrong file” when talking to my son. Prescriptions are not filled on time and the office NEVER answers a call. When they respond to an email it has nothing to do with my original concern. I used to recommend his office and now all I can say is that it’s time to look for a new Dr. I’d only go here if your mental health is not a major concern"
"{UPDATE: I have started receiving bills from the office for treatment from over 1 year ago, June of 2022. I have no idea where these charges came from because my account was paid off in full, albeit not by choice. I am questioning the validity of the charges - why have they suddenly appeared after so much time has passed?} [This is an entirely new review to reflect events that have happened in the last few weeks.] I started seeing Dr. Chris about 4 years ago and he was instrumental in helping me get on a good course of treatment for anxiety & depression. I did therapy with Clarice for a while as well. TMS therapy helped further with post-Covid symptoms, and the technician was great to chat with at my daily sessions. However, the current front office staff is not so great at providing the same level of service. They don't ever seem to answer the phone or email. When asked basic questions, no one has answers. There were times I showed up for an appointment and the front door would be locked, the staff oblivious and chatting away inside. I'd stand at the counter waiting to schedule an appointment or ask a question and would have to wait until they finished their conversations with each other before anyone paid me any attention. Not once during my 2-3 months of daily TMS treatment did any of the staff inform me of any copay due, despite my inquiring several times. I was always told I had no balance, nothing due, etc. Suddenly after treatment ended, I was sent a bill for almost $2K. I had to set up a payment plan through the Billing department, because the desk staff didn't know how to do that. When I attempted to make my first payment on 9/14/22, some glitch or error on the patient portal took my entire balance as payment. This error emptied out my bank account completely. I called the office and left multiple messages explaining what happened and asking for someone to contact me so the issue could be addressed. I sent multiple emails when I could not reach anyone. I went to the office in person after about a week of not getting a response. The office manager, Heather, said that there was a system issue causing problems with payments, but that she would reach out to Dr. Dekhtyar to alert him of the situation. After another week or so of no follow-up from the office, I kept emailing and calling to reach someone who could resolve the billing issue (which had now caused several hundred dollars in overdraft fees to my bank account). In a last-ditch effort to get someone to pay attention to fact that their "system issues" were causing bigger problems for their patients, I amended my original review here to state that I was hugely disappointed about the front office staff acting very unprofessional and unconcerned about the well-being of their patients with their lack of response to anyone trying to reach out about any sort of urgent issue. Dr. Dekhtyar's response to my review was to drop me as a patient. No mention of the computer system error that caused the initial problem. Nothing to address the billing matter at all. No sense of concern over the fact that I was clearly distressed by the whole situation. Nothing from my doctor (Dr. Chris). Just a letter (dated 9/28/22) informing me that they are closing my chart, that I should have enough medication to last me until I find another provider, and a list of referrals for providers that have wait lists months long for new patients. It is really a shame that they do not seem to care about their patients anymore beyond the money they generate for the practice. I am grateful for the treatment and help I got, but I am definitely better off finding another practice that treats their patients with the respect and kindness they deserve."
"Best Psychiatrist I have had in years. I am stable on the meds I take and leaving them be is the best for me. Thank you so very much for all your help."
"I'm so grateful this office was able to get me in as soon as possible while other psychiatry offices have a 6 month wait. Mental health is so important and there should NOT be any wait to be seen, so glad they are able to help. The ladies in the front are awesome and quick to refill my medications. High recommend!!"
