"It was a rather fun experience to see the exhibits inside. Hope they are able to fix up the outside cabins with authentic materials. They have a little gift shop that had several items of interest. The staff was very friendly. And they have nice pavilions outside for a get-together. Also has a walking path that is well maintained."
"I feel this place would be fine for a school day trip for elementary age students. Interesting place."
"What an awesome place to visit. Sad to say I never knew it was there. Next visit to Illinois hopefully it will be open. I am really looking forward to it."
"Very cool place. When you go in you go left to the museum and the rebuilt fort. Make sure, after you see the cabins and the boat and read about what they did here, that you take the road, that would have been on your right on the entrance, to the river. Less than half a mile. The whole thing comes together. It is really cool!"
"The exhibits inside the visitor center are great, especially the huge keel boat display. But outside, the fort was in desperate need of funds because it was falling apart and so you can't visit it. The cabin, also outside, was really interesting. But it was extremely warm inside and there was a major issue with bees or wasps that made my son scared to enter the cabin. Also, the guy at the main desk had an attitude when I asked where the real passport cancellation stamp was located. I had to go asking at the other counters because anyone not associated with the bookstore, was obviously bitter about something regarding that stamp. So don't ask for it, if you're a collector. Just for where the gift shop is, And save yourself the headache. But overall, the interior exhibit shows an important part of the expedition. About a part the is typically never focused on, at all. The portion the started it, in Illinois."
