Reviews
"Beautiful place, I've lived in the area all my life and had not visited until today. Educational as well. Bring your bug spray, the trail is neat!"
"Beautiful and important new addition to the NPS! It has ticks everywhere though!"
"Wonderful little spot to reflect on the life of slaves, ex-slaves, & pioneers. Quarter-mile trail through the former town's area. Butterfly garden. Couple brochures to explain more, for those so-inclined...as well as extensive info on New Philadelphia & Free Frank McWorter at the Barry, Illinois library that is 4 miles west. 2 shaded benches on which to sit under a kiosk...2 more benches on the small trail. No bathrooms. Less than 2000 feet from the interstate, so there is some noise from the traffic. Lovely spot & interesting story! :-)"
"Small roadside park with a lot of underlying history. Not a whole lot physically there anymore: a shelter with informational signs, a trail through the field, and a couple old buildings. The story underneath, especially with the virtual tour you can take while following the trail, is very interesting and breathes some good life into the site."
"A fantastic historical site that's interesting, educational, and well worth the drive."
