"A small museum of buildings from the 1800s. There is a short nature trail as well as a oaved brick trail to take you to the various sites. There is a covered bridge that goes above the trail that you can walk through. They have a swing bridge to walk across as well. Buildings are log cabins, church, post office, school, ice cream ahop, stable, and others. You can use the church and gazebo for a small wedding if you want maybe 25 people or less. Enterance is by donations recommend a couple of dollars per person. The tour is self guided. Don’t goto the address given as that is the old address and you will come to step stairs with a chained gate keep going down the road use the parking lot on the left hand side of the road. Note there is no food or beverages here so if you want that bring yoir own there are plenty of picnic tables to set at."
"Wonderful place on the Mississippi, old quarry town setting, volunteers explained everything about the life back then while dressed in the clothes during the era. Live music performance, cookies and hot cocoa at the town hall building today. Cold day to be there but we braved the cold and walked the trail."
"This place is really cool! If you are in the area you should stop. Its a simulation of an old town with a bank, church, school, etc. There is no charge but they have a donation box which I think was reasonable since it's free entertainment. Its in a canyon so make sure you have good walking shoes and wear bug spray."
"I enjoyed coming here! It's a neat hidden treasure of NW Illinois! There's history and events here, and a lot of bugs. The nature trails are amazing and the place is rife with wildlife and beauty. I would stay away from coming in the morning and evening due to bugs but other than that it's really well maintained for being substained just off of donations."
