"Call to find out how much the labor would be on replacing a part that is under warranty. They said they have to charge me $150 to come take a look at it and then give me some pricing to replace the part. Many places charge much less for service calls, I'm going to be looking into that. They sure paid a lot of money for that billboard that I got their phone number from."
"Downstairs AC was not blowing cold air. They came pretty quickly. Checked the unit outside and gave two option - replace the unit (compressor/condensor) outside and the unit (evaporator) upstairs in the attic, or add freon and see how long it lasts. To replace the entire unit (in the attic and outside) they quoted $9800. When I asked them to check and see where the leak was, he did not want to do it. The technician filled freon and left. The next day the freon leaked out and was not blowing cold air. When 3 other AC repair guys came, they immediately went to the attic, did a leak test and showed the evaporator coil is leaking and should be replaced. When asked about the unit outside, they all said, the outside is good and does not need to be replaced. The price quoted to replace the evaporator was almost 40% to what Southern Comfort quoted."
