"They told me I was gonna be leaving at 9:00am it’s currently 10:16 at the time of this review. They almost gave me the wrong medicine, Im at high risk for a seizure and I threw up, called a nurse. No one came in for an hour. And even then they left in a second. Not to mention the fact that when they were putting the cords on my head the nurses were smacking me in the back of the head. The heart rate monitor kept going off and the nurse who went to school for this couldn’t figure out why it was beeping. Me the 16 year old freshman figured it out. This is the worst hospital ive been to just go to sherman"
"2 weeks ago we were induced at St. Alexius and were there for about 4/5 days between the induction, delivery, and our baby needing photo therapy. I cannot day enough good things about the people working on the labor and delivery and mother baby floors!! My husband and I were astounded by the level of care the staff had for us, as if we were family, one nurse even saying we were like family now. I want to shout out Alli on the labor and delivery floor who works nights. She was outstanding and I wish I would have gone into labor just 2 hours earlier for her to be able to deliver our son. Also, Wendy on the mother baby floor working day shift. She was amazing and was so helpful and kind when our son had to do photo therapy. Roxanne, a patient tech on mother baby was great as well, always checking to see if we needed anything. The food was not great, they even forgot to bring up my husbands order once and after 2 hours we had to call for another order."
"This review is strictly regarding experience with labor and delivery and birth certificate departments. Some staff are great and enjoy their jobs but the particular nurse we had the day of our baby's delivery was terrible. She was very cold and could tell she did not enjoy her work. She knew my wife was in a lot of pain during the labor and took extremely long time notifying the doctor when we requested to see him. She also failed to use an ice pack to numb our baby's foot prior to drawing blood sample for glucose test which was very painful for the baby. Using an ice pack is a standard procedure and was followed by all other nurses. Also a lady from the birth certificate department messed up the spelling of our baby's name and ignoring hospital internal rules submitted it to the State without my wife's final review and approval. Although they did fix it, allegedly, with the state they said I am on my own with trying to fix this with a social security office. After I emailed them and said that this would take hours for me trying to get ahold of anyone at social security office and that they need to get this corrected for me since its their mistake, birth certificate department office stopped responding to my emails. Overall very poor experience with AMITA in Hoffman Estates."
"We took our 8 year old autistic boy to the ER after first going to Urgent care. He was admitted to pediatric ICU and stayed for 3 nights. The experience was fantastic! Nurses, doctors, staff, they were all great! I stayed all 3 nights with my son so we were all working closely. I can tell you that everyone had different personalities and bedside manners but they were all good! We had a couple little hiccups in ER when it came to getting blood/IV line but you can't expect everything to be perfect all the time and the intentions were well meaning. Things that made our stay actually fun were services like Child Life and our experience with the PTs and the volunteer comfort dogs and a magician! I am truly grateful to all the staff/volunteers we encountered during our stay. Sincerely mom to Elan Rosa"
"I had to take my 8 month old daughter to the ER here because it was closest. She ended up being admitted for 4 nights and 5 days. The nursing staff for the most part was outstanding, aside from 1 nurse who was removed from our service due to her lack of bed side manner. Overall, the treatment we received was acceptable. If I had a choice however, I would've taken my daughter to childrens hospital in downtown Chicago. It didn't seem that Alexian was well equipped to handle infants."
