Prospect Place

"Not luxurious, possibly unsafe. Update: Prospect Place would rather pay for fake 5-star reviews than make things right with me. After originally posting my review, management finally started helping me out with these issues. Some fixes were painless, others took several visits, and sometimes maintenance would no-show. Ultimately, issues are constantly cropping up and I'd surpass the character limit if I tried to detail everything. I cannot recommend this place whatsoever. Living here poses several issues, all of which were presented to management a month ago with absolutely no resolution. The most concerning of these issues is the constant fire alarm soundings. We’re consistently woken up at 6, 4, sometimes 2 in the morning by loud fire alarms going off for a few seconds at a time. Lately, this has turned into minutes of obnoxious fire alarms at random times during the day. No one is taking these alarms seriously, we’re not sure that they’d sound during an actual emergency, and we fear that residents here could get seriously hurt. Again, management was informed of this issue a month ago and there has been no resolution. The noise doesn’t end there, for a luxury apartment, the walls are thin and conversations carry from unit to unit. I can hear my neighbor flip their light switch. Furthermore, the garage door is rather loud and is clearly audible from our unit. General craftsmanship and quality is severely lacking in this “luxury” building. Not only are the materials cheap but they are poorly installed and at times unusable. Floor boards are coming up, the countertop is no longer adhered to the cabinets in several places, there are visible gaps between outlets and walls. Upon move in, the unit was filled with dust and covered with paint splatter. The kitchen island seating is useless, as the there is only 4 1/2” of countertop overhang (way under the minimum 12”). In the bathroom, shower glass does not move and does not prevent water from splashing onto the floor. We had to add our own shower curtain. Lights in hallways and outside have been flickering at times. The list goes on. There are good things about living here, mostly the proximity to the metra. The windows and high ceilings, along with the gym and sauna are genuinely nice. But the downsides, especially at this price point, are completely unacceptable. We are disappointed."
