"Catherine Gianan, NP was late for every scheduled appointment I had set up with her in advance. There is no way talk to the Dr's or NP's directly unless it was during an appointment. She filled my prescriptions without asking, however, the IPD, is a disgrace. No where will they say how much a session costs, but expect a $300+ bill for a 1hr call/visit. Evaluations and tests cost more. I find it truly sad that there are people who really want to help people but are stuck in a dying Institution/Insurance model. Even more sad, is that most of who needs help will surely not be able to A. Afford this healthcare B. Not be able to jump through the hoops C. Not have the patience to wait endlessly for answers D. Book a timely appointment within a few weeks. Good luck if you get caught it their sticky traps! Better off adopting a healthy diet and exercise routine."
"I could write a book on how this company failed me, but suffice it to say that I’d rather it happened to me and not someone who was in a more precarious mental place or suicidal. They texted me the day I received the referral (3/3/20) and I answered immediately and also called and left a message. A week later (3/10/20) they texted me again: (Hello from Institute for Personal Development. How can we help you today?) and I responded by text and called again, both times civilly voicing my dismay and dissatisfaction in their less than urgent response. Three days later (3/13/20) they responded by text (Hello from Institute for Personal Development. How can we help you today?) again I responded to the text and called and left a message. Three days later (3/16/20) another text (Sorry we missed your call. For a faster response, text us here: https....) and I responded by text and phone for a third time. JUNE 4th - ALMOST THREE MONTHS LATER I receive a repeat of the initial text they originally sent. I remain unattended and unhelped. I have decided to change my doctor over this. I have the exchanges screen capped as a precaution and as proof. Avoid these people if you need help. They are anything but."
"I'd like to be able to recommend (or discourage) people from using the Institute for Personal Development, but I can't. I literally spent over a week of back and forth playing phone tag with this place, just to make an appointment... What a joke!! I chose the Joliet location, as it's closest to me. When you call the Joliet number, it prompts you to leave a voicemail. THERE IS NO RECEPTIONIST TO SPEAK TO. So, at their convenience they call you back. Two times, they returned my call the following day. When they call back, it is during the day, when you are at work. So.... As most places of businesses have rules, you can't answer their incoming call. So, on your 10 minute break or lunch hour, you call back and once again, receive the answering service, prompting you to leave a voicemail. Needless to say, this presents a HUGE problem for people that work during the day and can't drop everything when they call you back. My thoughts are if I can't even get in touch with someone to make an appointment, then what other problems will there be down the road?? I want to be able to speak to someone to make appointments and request refills if needed be. The setup they have is absolutely ridiculous. Whoever the person was that came up with this brilliant (cough cough) idea to send all calls to an answering machine should be fired. The people coming here are already coming for mental issues and certainly do not need the added stress of this. The time I spent just trying to make an appointment, my anxiety was through the roof. I was extremely stressed. And getting extremely angry that this place that is supposed to help you, doesn't even have an actual person to speak to over the phone. The only reason why I was so persistent in trying to get in with the Institute for Personal Development of Joliet, was because my medical provider was telling me this is the only place I could go to. After more research on my part (and my husband's) and three different phone calls to our insurance company, I found somewhere else I could go. This place needs to seriously change their telephone service methods. How do they even have patients when people can't get in touch with them???"
"January Robinson was quite possibly the worst healthcare "professional" I have ever seen in my life. For starters, my appointment was scheduled for 3:00 and I was not brought into a room until 3:40. Then, she made me feel like a complete fool. I have a diagnosis from a licensed therapist but yet I could tell that this "psychiatrist" did not believe me. To make matters worse, she pretty much forced me to call my mother to discuss MY LIFE. I am 20 years old, not 12. I should not have to discuss anything with anyone other than myself and my psychiatrist. Do yourself a favor and see literally ANYONE but this doctor. The ladies at the front desk were absolutely wonderful and I wish I could give them a separate rating altogether. I still cannot believe how I was treated by this woman. I understand that someone cannot just prescribe medications left and right, but I have an actual diagnosis from someone who is licensed and fully capable of giving a proper diagnosis who recommended medications to help me. Not only did I walk out empty handed, but I left feeling worse than before I had entered. Wish I could give her less than 1 star."
"Steer clear. Billed for physician services not performed (like an exam), then when I questioned the bill I was sent a letter letting me know I am no longer welcome at this practice. They refuse to correct the error and then sent my account to collections. No medical help, just a $250 bill for listening to the doctor tell me about her history, education and beliefs for an hour. Then an offer to schedule another appointment for a month later so the doctor could perform an exam."
