"Terrible/Unethical business practices. They tell you to email to cancel your membership, which was done. Then they send you an email saying it’s canceled, then they continue to charge your account. When confronted, they say you have to give a handwritten letter to cancel your membership too bad. I can provide proof they said the membership was canceled months ago. Won’t refund. This is theft."
"This gym is disgusting. It feels like you could get a staph infection just touching the equipment. The music sucks and is way too loud. They do a terrible job of maintaining equipment, stuff is always broken. Good luck finding the cable attachment you want. The staff is very off putting like they are way too cool for you, and the overall culture here sucks. Sign up somewhere else."
"Been coming here for 3 years. Used to be great. I don’t know what happened in the past year but the staff is so rude and the music is so loud it’ll ruin your workout. I’ve asked them to turn it down a little just so it isn’t blaring through my nose canceling headphones and the staff rolled their eyes at me and then refused to do so. I’m not asking them to turn it off, just down enough that people can also enjoy their own music. This place used to show a lot of promise but the staff is rude and the atmosphere isn’t great. Go elsewhere if you have options."
"I was visiting Georgetown and needed a place to train, so I decided to check out the House of Gainz. I liked the old school bodybuilding vibe, the music selection, and the endless equipment options. At one point, a patron came over to help me adjust a piece of equipment after seeing me struggle to figure it out. I thought that was cool and it speaks to the quality of their clientele. I also just think Texans are some of the nicest people. Things that could be improved: A quick tour of the gym for first-timers. There's a lot going on in there, and it took quite a bit of time to figure out where everything was, including the bathrooms and the water dispenser. A simple tour would have helped save time and frustration. Cleanliness needs work. The gym floor was filthy. I've worked out in gyms all over the world, and have never seen a commercial gym so dirty at 7am. I used to own my own warehouse gym, so I know how hard it is to keep the floors clean. A standard for cleanliness should be upheld. In some parts of the gym it felt straight up unsanitary. Beyond that, the gym is huge, the patrons are friendly, and the equipment options are endless. There was some clutter and disorganization in the back near the sled push/pull, which made finding things quickly a challenge. The culture here is cool and it seems like a great gym that people really love."
