"Two things most people don't enjoy thinking about: Death and lawyers. Well, one is unavoidable and the other...actually, they're both unavoidable, come to think about it. Together, you want to make sure that your heirs have as smooth a process as possible, and that your wishes are definitely carried out. (By the way, that also means making sure that some loser heir of yours is kept from getting anything they don't deserve, too.) "Estate planning" sounds like something for rich people, but even people of modest means (like me) need to stay ahead of this stuff. For example, two words of advice: Avoid Probate.
