"This was my first visit with South Texas Eye Institute. After waiting for over an hour I decided to cancel my appointment and leave. I will find another optomologist that does not overbook. The staff was kind and courteous I give them 5 stars."
"I chose to see Dr Marten because I heard she is a corneal specialist & I have a myriad of issues that require specialized care. I was impressed with the Dr ONCE I got to see her, but the wait time in this clinic is ridiculous. I waited 90 minutes in the front office before being called back for preliminary exams after which I got to wait another hour before Dr Marten saw me. Dr Perez did offer to see me, but I respectfully declined; I made my appt with Dr Marten FOR A REASON - He seems like a very nice man & is a good general ophamalogist, I'm sure, but I NEED A SPECIALIST! Dr Marten & I discussed surgery but it sounds much more complicated than I'd ever considered so I'm still not sure. She seems very competent & aware,. but if you come to this clinic, please reserve a good chunk of your day. Everyone from office staff to medical personnel was very nice & courteous but I wonderif there is a problem with double booking when I was met with a sign on the desk that told me to expect an hour wait. An 11:20 appt should never not be seen till after 3:00 - that was my experience at South Tx Eye Institute Tuesday, Aug 24. Additionally, medication was supposed to be called in that day but as of today (5 days later) Walgreens has received no order. I want my eyes & my time to matter to whatever clinic I choose to entrust them with. 6 days later I called back to check on my medication only to speak to a tech who said there was no record of any RX in my file. A second call resulted in a desk clerk telling me a lab tech was not available but would call back by the end of the day.. 36 hours later, I have heard from no one, so I've still not received the RX Dr Marten said I needed. I'm not sure where the breakdown occurred - Did she fail to notate it in my file, or did med techs fail to call it in? Either way, I refer back to my earlier statement; "I want my eyes to matter more than this", I think I'll be finding another corneal specialist. My routine ophalmalogist recommended the drs at Focal Point Vision, I'll definitely be giving them a call. I've loist faith in South TX Eye Institute. I had red flags from the beginning when they took no medical history or asked what other medications I was on. These things are very important to eye health & every health professional I've ever seen has asked these questions."
"My mother, prior to her demise years ago, was a patient of Dr. Lisa Marten. As her caregiver I witnessed the superior service Dr. Marten and her staff gave my mother. Now as a patient, I receive the same special service. Her staff and her doctors execute the most impeccable high quality service, and today was no exception. Dr. Shah remembered me from last year and was extremely helpful in explaining my medical results and answering my questions. Everyone, in his and her capacity, is well-trained, well-versed and the teamwork is the best I have ever seen in any medical institution. As a former Human Resources Director I see that Dr. Marten has valuable and exemplary employees, and it is evident in their work. Thank you so much, and I had a glowing report!!!"
"The building exterior and waiting area are unimpressive but reception personnel are awesome. Once you get taken back to the serious business it is awesome. The equipment is obviously state of the art, exams are very thorough, the people are knowledgeable and nice. Dr. Marten is the BEST! I love this place. I go, my wife goes, and my 95 year old mom goes here."
