"I was a client of Dr. Ewing's for almost five years. It was probably the most awful experience of my life. I was part of a therapy group which was mostly made up of other men. What Dr. Ewing did wasn't therapeutic. It was destructive at times and at other times it just got me to spin my wheels. The biggest effect of Dr. Ewing’s therapy is that it’s demoralizing. Dr. Ewing did not accept us doubting her but she loved it when we doubted ourselves. We were encouraged to doubt ourselves frequently. She got us to lose our self-confidence by telling us in our most confused and vulnerable moments that we were wrong in what we were thinking. Over time this led everyone in the group to become dependent on her. Many people in the group stayed with Dr. Ewing for years not because they were getting better but because she had caused them to so profoundly doubt themselves that they no longer believed they were capable of living without her. I don't recommend becoming one of her clients, and I'd stay as far away from her as I could. If you become one of her clients, there's a good chance you'll lose your self-confidence and never leave her therapy or leave only after she’s seriously harmed you."
