"I loved working here, I would actually love to go back because the hours they have are so great. Sadly I stopped because I got pregnant and it was hard for me. My house manager was a great person and really understanding, always helping me with my schedule and any questions I had. The residents are beautiful and a enjoy to be with. Yes the pay is minimum per hour to what you work with but as long as your working from the heart everyday, money won’t be an issue or even a thought."
"I worked for them for 2 years or a little over. This job is very easy and basic. You can be trained to pass medications . There are different house you can work in. Alot of hours available. The checks were great for the amount of hours you put in. Cleanliness is a must. You get attached to your patients like they are your own family. Cons: You get called in alot if you regularly work ALOT. Management has a tendency for , some of them, to quickly yell and scold . If there is a spot of dust in a unused room you get scolded for. If dinners were not cooked by the schedule you get yelled at. And if you make two med errors , your fired , no questions asked. There were times where I came on duty and the other employee smelled like marijuana. I made reports of this and the gentleman was still working the next day. I witnessed a employee at a residence in the outskirts of the Converse area , physically assault and shove a nonverbal patient if theirs and made a abuse report after leaving when the incident happened. Then the next day , upper management wrote me up for making the report. (Retaliation 101) . And made it seem like it was my fault. Luckily they didn't let the same employee back into that house. BUT she got moved back into a wheelchair bound group home. Almost like a promotion , for physically assaulting somebody who couldn't defend themselves. The pay is basic, you do get overtime and they have you sign a paper clock in and out sheet. Which is collected on the weekends. They did back then have live in group homes where you are free to live there while taking care of the patients rent free. The house manager I worked for was very nice. She always asked if I needed anything but by upper management , it seemed like I was threatened with scolding or termination alot. Working with the same 3 adults in my group home was nice, I got attached to these guys taking care of them. Even after they promoted the abuser to a different residence of theirs, I was moved back to the same house and the two non verbal guys , one of them was the assaulted one, they laid their heads on my shoulders once they sall it was me working there now before I left . I felt like I wanted to cry for these guys. They stayed like that with me for a hour. And it took them 3 weeks before they acted their 'normal selves' again. What I Recommend To Upper Management: Stop with the threats of termination, if you expect to keep the same employees and lower your turn over then maybe med passing should be changed or employ more training for this. Instead of threatening about cleanliness , maybe there should be at least two people per residence to assist each other or make custodial positions . That can assist the caregivers you hire to help . Make the environment more positive . Working in a environment where there is a constraint strain of termination floating around in the atmosphere makes you lose hope to stay working there. Also for veteran employees, you should make a payroll raise program after every year working there. Please make a better vehicle maintenance plan. 98% of the time, patients I drove couldnt feel any AC whatsoever. It was so terrible to pull in the driveway and see people's loved ones sweating in yalls passenger Van's. The Mechanic shop yall use tips you off hundreds if not thousands. I even told off a mechanic that unsold yalls bill for something they didnt even do. I also reported that mechanic shop to the BBB and I hope they closed down. Also some other co doctorate students I study with agree that their medications they are prescribed are questionable for the patients treatment plans. I hope that the abusive employee was eventually fired. It has been t years since I worked here. If not , I would have loved to record that assault and spread it all over the news. The company is already on notice about her and I believe her name is Shelly? With a red F150 pickup truck. Thank you for reading my review."
"employed for about 8mo. no training, no certifications needed, & be ready to be asulted by by the residents. staff sleep on the clock & no appreciation for your efforts. high turnover & low pay for high risk. (I hope things get better for the staff & residents. ) some ppl are cut out for the conditions but I couldn't do it any more & plus; no away time. (for you) but the favored... yes. lots of stress but not the pay. good luck if you dare & no one to trust."
